Thanks for posting the pic, Tiz Me. Kangaroos (Jin-jo in Thai - unsure of the correct spelling) are a real road hazard out here on the Eyre Highway in outback Australia.

There are about 40 million kangaroos in Australia and 20 million people, so they are not an endangered species and they do an enormous amount of damage to pastures and fences.

We have a kangaroo shooter based here and he shoots about 300 a week. They stand up over 2 metres and weigh about 150kg each.

On average about 10 vehicles a week are disabled after hitting kangaroos, usually wrecking radiators and front ends. Most of the damage occurs with night driving, as the kangaroos sleep under trees during the daytime.

The nearest repair facility from where I live and work is 550km away, so a vehicle tow at $AU6 a kilometre costs around $AU3300. Often the vehicle is worth less than that!

I nearly came a cropper on a motorbike in Phuket a few years ago when a water buffalo decided to share the road with me.

I've had a few scares on my bike when I was in Oz with roos.

The worst that I had was with a bloody galah though. I was doing about 180kph when it flew into me and hit me in the shoulder.

Hurt like he11 but really scared the crap out of me.
