The Nation "news Reporting"

Featured Replies

The Nation is not exactly known for the accuracy of their reporting, but this one in today's online issue must be at least very close to taking the prize:

"Chiang Mai hit by smog for five consecutive days

Chiang Mai - Chiang Mai has been hit by smog and has dangerous tiny dust particles higher than safety standard for five consecutive days, the provincial pollution control office said Sunday.

The office's three air quality measuring stations found that the province had particle pollution, which is less than 10 micrometers in diameter (PM10) higher than the safety standard of 120 microgrammes per a cubic metre of air for five consecutive days.

The station at the provincial hall Sunday recorded the lelvel of PM10 particle at 168.4 microgrammes per a cubic metre of air.

The level of PM10 particle was recorded at 208.0 microgrammes at the Yupparaj Withayalai School in Muang district and at 130.4 at the Phuping Palace."

The figures are for Sunday 8 March 2009 :)

I'm rather amazed that some people actually pay for this piece of fish-and-chips wrap...

I had a feeling you would come along. :) When I posted that article in the Chiangmai forum today I had a feeling the dates didn't match up. Looked everywhere to verify what the date it was for was really but only could see today's date and Breaking News. Had a hunch it was wrong (yes I know, probably shouldn't have posted it).

I don't know why they don't date stamp the actual articles like most media do.

So it really was a very old article from the Nation? In that case I must apologize to the fish-and-chips wrap. However, it might be a good idea for them to time stamp their articles, as you say, and to not archive things under the heading "Breaking news". How about "Broken news"? :D

Read "Not The Nation" at least that is up to date crap. :)

It's called "A slow news day."

The Nation is not a bad newspaper...it's just not a news paper, with new being the key word. Their events listings online are usually hopelessly out of date and they have refused to even respond to a couple of polite emails about it. There are some articles that have been online for months.
