Question in reference to:

The best THAI VISA to get... that allows one to also get a Dependant Spouse Visa for my Wife, so that we both can live in Thailand.

Details of Situtation:

I am an American. Retired at age 33 and am now 45 years old. Therefore, I'm too YOUNG for a Thai Retirement Visa.

What would be the BEST VISA for "ME" to obtain that would allow for me to also get a Dependant Spouse Visa for my wife who is FILIPINO.

The best Thai Visa that also allows for Dependant.

Not really interested in WORKING, lol... but please submit ALL options that you are personally aware of.

Many Thanks,

RDA

There is no such thing as a spouse dependant visa. You would need to be on extension of stay (retirement or working) for foreign wife to stay with you as your dependant. Your age rules out the retirement option, which means you would have to work.

You would have to initially obtain a Non-Immigrant O Visa from consulate in your country (Houston or Portland reported as good places). You will get 90 days permission to stay on entry. Then apply for extension of stay based on employment during the last 30 days of your permission to stay, if you meet the requirements (income 50k/month for westerner plus employer company documents).

Your wife would have to come over on Non-O visa and then convert to extension of stay as your dependant during the last 30 days of her permission to stay based on your own extension when that is in place. Note that if you cease working both you and your wife would have to leave the country on last day of your working (or can apply for 7 day extension at immigration).
