Dreamworld

We're going there on Wednesday - does anyone know any good hotels near it?

Not a straight answer, but it's near Don Mueang airport so it should be easy enough round there. Dreamworld is in a rural location with not much around.

I was just at Dream World 2 weeks ago. I paid for the package where you can do everything free plus "snow town". So the cost was 550 plus 150 baht (for snow town) - the Go Kart would have been 100 baht more. I actually didn't do enough things to add up to the 550 baht. But, I am glad I did the package or I probably would have ended up doing almost nothing.

Anyways, if you are staying in Bangkok more that a day. I would actually pick my hotel not based on proximity to Dream World, but rather proximity to the Skytrain or MRT so you can do what ever else you plan to do in Bangkok. Dream World is way out in Rangsit. The Future Park Mall very close to Dream World is very nice but otherwise, I perfer to be in town.

I live near Dream World, and there is actually a "Resort" type concept on Klong 6 which is basically nice "new" small cottages with one large bedroom, shower, etc.

They have around 10-14 of these cottages on a nice plot of land manicured like a park.

Any how, it has been noted that Dream World is way out in "no where" which is pretty much true.

But compared to the amusement parks in the states, it is a bargain.

Sounds good. I'll give Bkk a miss - lived there for 10 years and hate the place now.

Ah, come on now, "not much around...." Dream World is about at Klong 4, there's a Big C and a TESCO-LOTUS at Klong 6-7, and I'm out at Klong 10. Sure a whole lot more moobans and businesses between me and Rangsit than there was 13 years back when we moved out of Bangkok.

Dakhar

See earlier comment on "no where," but I'm curious about the "resort type complex" on Klong 6, where might that be? I've not noted it and am interested. Have relatives coming in December and that'd be semi handy to Klong 10.

Had been planning on using the pretty decent BS Apartments there on the left of the entrance to ZEER Street, have had friends stay there before.

turn off the main road (don't know the name) that runs adjacent to the Huge canal that is in front of dream world.

Turn off of that road, and inter Klong 6, you will pass up the post office, hospital, & court house.... pass by the "shacks" & pass the college area, and keep going.

The canal should be on your right hand side....

Eventually you will come upon a Temple. (on your left) At this point you have actually passed up the "Resort."

Right before the Temple is a large building/apartment complexes/shop houses and restaraunts. There is also a construction supply company, all of this is located right before the temple.

This complex is actually owned by the owners of the resort. The resort is before this complex but you might pass up the resort because the onley indication of it is a small restaruant at the front of the intrance area. Any how, if you go to the restaraunt/shop house area and ask around, they will tell u where the resort is.

The resort is actually located at an intersection on Kong 6. There is a "short cut" road that links Klong 6 to Klong 5. (there are a lot of these types of roads, but this is one of the more popular roads along Klong 6 that links to klong 5)

I have walked around the resort/park, and it is nice. I have been in the Villas and they were nice too, AC etc. That said, they were asking 1K a night, and my wife thought that was flat out CRAZY when you consider it is "Klong 6." The reality is, my wife is correct, but the folks that own the place are EXTREMELY rich and could care less if they have customers or not.

If folks are interested, My wife (my money) owns a 7 town house complex on Klong 6 too and the mother in-law has Apartments on Klong 6 too.

There are also a nice "Love Shack" hotels down the road that leads to Lam Luka. They charge I think 460 - 600 a night, can't remember. Long story of why I know about that place.... but is a legit storry. Regardless, the places are worth it, nice bath room, large deep tubs, shower and nice big bed etc.

You can PM me if you better directions etc

Thanks for the directions, might check them out tomorrow. I've been up the Klong 6 road "a 100 times" but never notice a resort.

T Mac,

If I remember correctly, I think the owner of the restaraunts and apt buildings also rents out "hotel" style apartments on a nightly bassis too.

They do this because of the graduation celebrations etc, and family members need a place to stay etc.

We do the same from time to time.

So I think they could offer you a villa at the resort or an apt.

But I have to tell you that the "resort" is more like a manicured park, it is not like it has swimming pools, golf courses, snorkling etc.
