Hi,

My girlfriend has just given birth to a bouncing baby boy and is currently going through the registration processes over there.

She has just been informed that she has 3 months to register him at the British embassy.

Is this correct? and why?And what does the registration assist with in the future?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Not sure about the time limit, but obvioulsy the sooner the better.

Registering the birth at the embassy is not compulsory, but does have some advantages. Having a British birth certificate makes it easier for the child to get a British passport is perhaps the main one.
