Just received a single entry tourist visa from Mumbai. The consulate wanted a fair deal of paperwork for that but finally got my visa. Here's what they asked me:

  • Confirmed tickets TO and FROM Thailand
  • Credit card or other "proof' of funds
  • Cover later stating my purpose for my visit to Thailand

The employees at the consulate were pretty helpful but had I not had some of the above I don't think they would have given me the visa.

You do not say what nationality you are?

For a European the requirements do seem extreme, but for Indians

they may be necessary.

Slightly off topic, but I think relevant to understanding here

I remember visiting Hongkong with my Thai boss.

With my British passport I was stamped straight in.

My boss got the third degree about how much money he had and why he was visiting............ :)

Indian consulates always require confirmed flights TO Thailand, neither Chennai nor Delhi asked for flights out (UK PP). They (VFS) would not budge on the flights requirement.

Whilst proof of funds is stated as a requirement on the websites, I've not been asked.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I applied directly at the consulate. VFS doesn't handle Mumbai.

I might also add that this was my third tourist visa. First a 3-entry from Finland, then 2-entry from Laos and now a single entry from Mumbai. Perhaps ED visa next.
