tracer
"Help make a updated list" was the heading here. Sorry if some misunderstood me.I was hoping for a new thread with up to date info from the region. I just got my 2 entry tr visa, but planning ahead. To clearify, I talk about us longstayers with back to back visa's. Any new info about Perth? Do they still issue Non O for visit friends? 1 member pm me and said that Perth have stopped issue non o for visit friends, is that confirmed ? Only thing creeping to mind is that Timeshare seems to be doing well.... I hate it but maybe saddling the Thais with more...(G)
tracer
go to ur embassy and get a new passport...then go out and apply for new visa... (stamp out LOS in new pass) I wouldn't bet on that method -- they ARE using computers at immigration. Any half-wit writing software for them would include a field for "special comments", let alone visualize visa time-lines. You might be in luck with a new passport if the software writers were quarter-wits (full-wit software writer writing this ) As specialist with computers I am VERY surprised Thais havent managed to filter out those here on silly reasons as it should be easy to do....... It should be very easy to write some programs to filter all the vague guys out of the immigration computer. Its a bit old if still the same but whatever any Pc could do that kind of numbercrunching WITH the right input.
welovesundaysatspace
1) Do not need air ticket at Vientianne - at some embassies/consulates in the region you do.2) Immigration may ask for evidence of money to support yourself whilst in the Kingdom, but is rarely asked for. Just take ATM card with you so you can access some cash in the very unlikely event you are asked. Thanks for all the information. One last question: I am currently on a 3-months Non-Immigrant ED visa single-entry (as we figured out in that other thread, thanks again). This visa will expire somewhen in december. From that day on I need another 3-4 months to finish my research here, so doing border runs with tourist stamps would not be enough (max. 3x30 days as far as I know). One option would be to ask my university here for a letter of extension, but this would cost me another 25,000+ THB because I would have to register for another semester and some classes (which I actually do not need and never would attend). So the Vientianne tourist visa sounds like a good option. However, can there be any problems because of my current visa? How much time in advance should I go to Vientiane to get the tourist visa? Can I do it in advance already having a valid visa (which, of course, will expire after I leave the Kingdom as it is a single-entry)? The permission to stay on your current single entry Non-ED visa will expire when you leave the country. The ‘time clock’ on the double entry tourist visa will start from the day the visa is issued, so advise you don’t apply too early. A few days before your current visa expires should be ok. Also Vientianne, unlike most other embassies/consulates, will only give you visa validity of 3 months (rather than 6 months), meaning that you have to activate the second entry within 89 days of issue. That will be ok for you, but you do need to watch the dates carefully.

tomas50
I somehow accidentally found this thread: Could you provide some more information about the visa you are talking about here? If I understand you right, one can go to Vientiane and get a 5-months double-entry visa for Thailand there without having to bring any documents beside the name of a friend he is visiting? Is it that easy? The previous poster was talking about obtaining 12 month non-O visa from Perth. You can obtain double entry tourist visa from Vientianne. They are currently free of charge. You will get 60 day permission to stay on arrival. Before expiry you can extend visa for further 30 days at Thai immigration, fee 1,900 baht. At 90 days you need to do border run and re-enter Thailand to activate second 60 day stay. Then extend again by 30 days at Thai immigration. That would give you nearly 6 months stay. You would need to obtain re-entry permit (fee 1,000 baht) if you leave Thailand during 60/30 day periods to keep your permission to stay stamp alive (or visa becomes cancelled). Are you 100% about that! When i leaved in Ao Nang beach , i went to the immigration in Krabi befor my first 60 days expired to get a 30 day exstension! The canceld my visa! Perhaps someone in the Immigration office marked his visa "USED" and he thinks it was a visa cancellation. Normally they mark a tourist visa "USED" when you arrive. This happened with my current tourist visa. The immigration officer at the border forgot to mark my visa "USED", so they did it at the immigration office when I went in for an extension. I've noticed that sometimes "USED" is hand written and sometimes they use a rubber stamp.

dr_Pat_Pong
You can obtain double entry tourist visa from Vientianne. Are there any specific requirements or documents they require? You will get 60 day permission to stay on arrival. By land or air or both? With tourist visa's, both. Without visa's...by air 30 days, land entry 15 days. bangkokburning
I agree w/ the IT comments but I'd simply make a law stating that anyone employing a foreign national without the correct visa is subject to a massive fine. The foreigner working gets a year in jail and has to come up with cash for ticket out. S/He is persona no-grata also for three years. I have never worked a day in Thailand and I am lumped in with all the dodgy workers be it real estate dodgers or dive boat masters. Problem solved. PS: LazyG, this has been SOP forever, to mark up visa that manner. Edited October 14, 2009 by bangkokburning

Perfect except that thai employers generally have no idea about how to tackle the visa red tape nightmare and would rather not employ a foreigner if forced to deal with it. Plus a thai convicting and punishing another thai over a foreigner. There are pigs flying outside your window, quick, look. Punish the foreigner, thais are perfect don't you know. Non "O" I had added my partners address (Boyfriend) as Current address and left the permanent address empty she simply asked where I was staying in Perth and arrowed both addresses to swap. Current - Hotel Perth Permanent - Thailand address I am Gay, I have been living Thailand since 2004 (partner is a Doctor) I am not working, normally using Tourist Visas but now it's trips to Perth every 15 months. Don't forget, Go out/in before 12 month expiry and get another 90days = 15months. Just to add , I was not asked for any bank statement to show money. The only thing I didn't mention was a copy of your passport but thats normal for any visa. Plus copy of your Air ticket Itinerary. Top of Visa Application where it says no: of entries write "Multi" I also gave his business card attached to the Visa application, which I was reluctant doing but I have used his name for visas in the past anyway. If you have all the paperwork I mentioned previously you will be ok. Hope I have helped. Have all the paperwork filled out before you get there and I am sure you will be able to collect afternoon. But I guess depends how many they have to process that day. Remember only Tues & Thurs open.

lovenim
Hello, can I also get a 1-year multiple re-entry non-imm "o" visa from melbourne by any chance? I got my last one from Stuttgart/Germany, but I am not in Europe now and not planning to go there for a while yet. Apart from perth, where else in AUS can I get one? Where else near Thailand can I get one? Anywhere in the Asian region? Many thanks

thomo
OP: What other options for a new visa ? People should be aware that this red stamp does not say that you're not going to get another Tourist Visa. It says that your application may not be accepted. Which is the case when applying for any visa, in any country in the world. Edited July 21, 2010 by thomo
