templedog
Hello out there, Anyone know of a good guitar shop in BKK that can do a full professional set-up on a high end acoustic guitar......replace bone nut/saddle, neck check, intonation, string height...etc.? Greatly appreciated, Joe

howto
Aliceia Guitars 367/1 Soi Praram9-11 Rama IX Road, Bangkapi, Huay-kwang, BKK 10310 Tel. 02-716-9186, 02-716-8806 Open Mon.-Sat. 10 am - 6 pm Mr. Shane, Mr. Shane (Thai) is the only one there... unlike the "other" large lutheriers... whom have a few wannabe lutheriers... which may do some of the "grunt" work. Seems Shane does all the work... perhaps he does have an assistant, but be assured he does the work (unlike them). (Discovered him through my music teacher... a pro in his own right, he has heard many good things 'bout him, through many other Thai musicians. In experience... Inexpensive, easy to work with. Not sure about his English since my thai wife spoke to him on the phone and took the guitars to him and dealt with him. My wife said she saw a lot of Farang customer picture's on the wall. He is one of the top luthiers you can find in Bangkok. Did excellent work on our 3 guitars. Ibanez M-340, Crafter, Washburn (see my post http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Buy-Acoustic...r-t317376.html) Of course your mileage may vary, personally I think more musicians need to know where these people are. cheers & good luck Edited November 29, 2009 by howto
Timeless
Although probably howto's advice is where I'll take my Les Paul for an overhaul, there are also 2 guitar shops in Siam Paragon who also do repairs. A friend of mine was happy with their service. Sorry I can't tell you which one it is - he left Bangkok already. But if you want to go there talk to both and you should be able to tell which one is more competent.

I had a custom PRS Santana made while I was there, seen here: Can someone please get me P'Shane's updated email address for the business? I am now living state-side and really want another guitar to be made. Any help is much appreciated.
