Anyone Have Experience With Claims For Navakij Insurance?

Featured Replies

I work at a large Thai government university. It appears (unfortunately) that each department provides different insurance for their foreign instructors rather than get one plan for all so the information available in English is extremely limited. I am provided with the forms to sign up for the plan by the hall monitor who speaks no English. I have been avoiding her because I don't know whether to choose the private plan (Navakij health insurance for $2500 baht per year) or the government social security option. They gave no information on deductible just the % amounts they will pay on fees schedule for some operations.

Based on my experience with Western insurance companies, it looks like an individual plan wth underwriting because they want a 5 year medical history but at group rates! In the west group plans don't need to provide medical history before getting acceptance. My other option is the government social security plan, where you have to choose a hospital for all but extreme life or death emergency care as i have been told.

I have to sign up by Friday this week. Does anyone have experience with submitting claims to Navakij Insurance co? Hopefully someone has heard of them and you can PM if you feel more comfortable discussing that way.

Navakij are a solid company and we deal with them but would suggest for medical insurance they may not have the depth and experience of the large 'medical only' companies. Depending on age/benefits that may not be an especially low premium either.

May we suggest you contact Thai Visa Insurance Here with you requirements and we can see what there is in the market to match ?

From whats on offer i would go for the government social security option. It covers you completely in a Government hospital.(My local hospital Nakhon Pathom is very good. but crowded until they finish the new wards) and also if the doctor thinks you need specialist treatment that's covered as well (as far as I'm aware)
