Andre Agassi Admits Using Crystal Meth

Featured Replies

Andre Agassi's recent confessions are for me hard to understand.

OK, so he did this bad thing in the past, and he managed to get away with it. Why now tarnish his whole career by telling the world about it? I don't get it.

The only three possible reasons i can think of are:

1) To sell more copies of his book - but then again, is he really that short of a bob or two?

2) He got wind that someone was going to grass him up (pardon the pun), so decided to go public himself.

3) His conscience was weighing heavy.

Any ideas?

Although I don't think he needs the cash, I vote for number 1. Nowadays you need something controversial to sell autobios especially if you are someone famous. (some) People like to read dirt.

Most here in the U.S. say it is option #1, to increase interest in his book.

The relationships between Pancho Gonzales, Rita Agassi, Andre Agassi and Mike Agassi (father of Rita and Andre) is fascinating.

Option number one for me would be more plausible were he washed-up and desperate. Having seen him being interviewed recently with his wife, he seems to have a lot going for him and life seems good - from the outside anyway. I just can't imagine how a few extra sales of books will have been worth it for the cost of his reputation.
