churchill
CHICAGO (CN) - A Chinese honeymaker pleaded guilty to conspiring to smuggle Chinese honey into the United States. Yong Xiang Yan shipped 15 containers full of honey falsely labeled as Filipino, to avoid U.S. anti-dumping duties and Customs tolls of $940,000. Yong admitted he planned to smuggle another 21 container loads of Chinese honey through Thailand and The Philippines to avoid another $3.3 million in anti-dumping duties. Yong, 60, who runs Changge City Jixiang Bee Product Co. in Henan, was arrested in May in Los Angeles and has been in jail since then. Some of the honey was adulterated with antibiotics, federal prosecutors said. He faces up to 5 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. http://www.courthousenews.com/2009/10/30/C...Causes_Buzz.htm
