I have been living in Thailand for the past 2.5 years and married 2 years to a Thai lady. I am curently on a 1 year visa, but would like to return to the UK with my wife. these are our details. i am 31 & from England, she is 25 & Thai. i have money in a UK bank & will be living at my father's home in the UK. (He is living in Australia). My wife own's her own home & car in Thailand and has some money Banked in Thailand. I have been offered work with a friend once i am home. We would like to return for 6 months to see how she likes it and then apply for longer if everything is ok, can anyone tell me best way to go about it or website etc that may help. We printed application forms to fill in but i want to fill them in the best i can & by everything i am reading am getting rather confused about what is req and what process we need to take. thanks. Once you've done that have a look through UK Visas <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But you cannot register with them from a hotmail or Yahoo address. Can't even contact them to ask them to do it for you as a genuine enquiree. I used to have an ISP, but that was years ago, when their site was much more primitive. Wee Jimmy, i married in Thailand office and have Marriage cert. the scouser Posted April 4, 2005 Share Posted April 4, 2005 MisterMister, It is probably best if your wife goes on a settlement (spouse) visa rather than a visit visa as the latter can't be extended after a stay of 6 months. The settlement visa will cost £260.00 in local currency. You do need to show that you have adequate accommodation, so get a letter from your father saying that he is content for the 2 of you to live in his house. Also provide proof of his ownership. With regard to employment you should get a letter from your friend stating that he will employ you, in what role, and how much you salary will be. I'm sorry I can't give a fuller reply now but I've got to go. Do a search on the forum as this topic has been covered a number of times. Scouse. Firstly, then, read through the following from the British Embassy:- Application Forms and Guidance Guidance - General information (INF 1) Guidance - Husbands, wives and partners (INF 4) Guidance - Sponsors (INF 3) Also, you will find many of your questions answered here:- Bringing a visitor or fiance to the UK - FAQ and Tips Although the advice is aimed at couples who are not married and intend to marry once in the UK, the basic requirements are the same. The main difference being that as you are already married you will need to provide your marriage certificate. Have a look through all that, and then come back if you have any questions. Good luck. rresann Posted April 4, 2005 Share Posted April 4, 2005 The following is an email from my lawyer received two weeks after the I-130 was sent to US immigration… I edited out my wife’s name and replaced with (spouse). This will give you an idea of the time frame for a K3 visa to the colonies across the pond. “Yesterday, we received the Receipt Notice for your I-130 Immigrant Petition. Accordingly, today, we filed your K-3 Petition for Alien Spouse with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS"). The USCIS is currently taking approximately 6 to 7 months to process the K-3 petition. As soon as I receive any news from the USCIS, I will promptly notify you. After the USCIS approves the K-3 petition, the case is forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC) of the U.S. Department of State. The NVC conducts preliminary case processing and then sends the case to the U.S. Embassy in Thailand. Once the embassy receives the petition approval, they will send Packet 3 (Visa Instruction Letter) to (spouse)'s address in Thailand. The Packet 3 is usually sent to the foreign spouse within approximately 1 to 3 months after the K-3 petition approval. (spouse) will then submit certain visa application forms to the embassy (which I will prepare for her at a later time). Once the embassy receives these documents, they will schedule (spouse) for an interview appointment, normally within 2 to 3 months and send her Packet 4 (Interview Appointment Letter). Before the interview appointment, (spouse) will take a medical exam at a hospital approved by the U.S. Embassy and bring the medical exam report with her to the interview. The embassy will provide (spouse) with a list of approved hospitals in Packet 3. The above is a summary explanation of the K-3 visa application process from this point forward. I will contact you sometime in August or September, 2005 to begin preparing (spouse)'s K-3 visa application and her minor child's K-4 visa application for submission to the U.S. Embassy in Thailand. I will notify you know as soon as I hear from the USCIS regarding your K-3 petition. Please let me know if you have questions. Best regards,” So, as I was told by a few lawyers prior to choosing one… the total time frame is about 10 -11 months in practice (in theory could be a little shorter or a few months longer). On a down note, the lawyers told me that about a year ago, the total wait time was closer to 6 months... I chose to use an immigration lawyer to prepare the necessary documents because if I made and error, I would lose several months while they process, then send it back and then I try and do it correctly, etc.....
