It was a frantic scramble through traffic to get it from the post office (customs charges no less) but now at least I've got a replacement bike cam :)

P1050706.jpg

It no longer will be mounted onto the helmet. It was a bit shaky wakey up there the last time (as BBBK pointed out more than once :D )

So instead it'll go onto a fixed position on the tank. It's much easier and less hassle than jury-rigging it to the helmet. But it does mean I lose some luggage space with it sitting there...

Here it is, the new Tachyon XC and compared to 2008 model it's miles better the quality is improved, as is the sound. A bit wind rushy but not too bad.

No more wavy lines when at a standstill either.

Here's a sample:

Not too bad eh? :D

JK, Well theres no doubt about that, the picture quality is good and its much better than being mounted on your little hat which bobs around alot, especially in traffic when your trying to keep an eye out for the next person whos gonna run u off the road. I also like the camera position, you get to see straight outfront and the speedo.

What happened to the front wheel in the air??

No, im not talking about the front wheel being that way in the air, Im talking about 'wheelies' dude :)

I'd like one too, but I was thinking something I could attach to the forks. Dunno if i would like something on my tank, cant stand a tank bag either.

Better than the other vids you use to post. Where you are constantly looking down at the road, watching where the front tyre is going. A sure sign of a newbie rider.

I agree with BBB. Camera at the rear seem to provide a better feed.

I have bike camera envy :)

Can i ask how much it cost and where you bought it from? Ebay?

Was customs about an extra 20%?

Customs charge was about 600 baht. I bought it from the USA.

Took about 10 days to arrive.

The camera mount I got from Germany, but there's a bunch of generic ones you can get from the states too.

Wow, I thought you were married big T, didnt know you like to rear end other male bike riders :D . Im gonna get one of those rear end cameras for my bike and a god damned decent alarm to go with it :D . Far out, to think I wanted to have a sleep over at your place. Try any of that stuff on me and I'll personally feed ur hand into the rear sproket :D .

Why havent you posted any good vids lately? (Mr video citique)

Heh, heh- good one neverdie! :D Bring on your sprocket- I'm ready! :D

The lens on my video camera needs to be replaced... (FYI, video cameras don't like to be hit by rocks when you're going 200km/hr...) :)

Ride On!

I might get a camera for the rear as you can run two at once and it does look good.

It'll be really fun when If I can jury rig live feedback from them!

I'll be able spot and wave to all my SSR chums in the distance. :D

I just imagine XJR13 with a pipewrench in one hand swinging it about, living out his mad max fantasy's :D

Oh what fun we have on this section. :)

I'm obviously having a Thursday afternoon thickie moment, cos i can't seem to work out what the point of all this videoing is. Who is it being made for?

Do people get pleasure from watching someone else ride? I know i don't. It'd be like getting pleasure from watching someone else have sex. I've never done that before. :)

It's being made for our future biking children in a black-ops project that will see them exceed the limits of all known biking ability.

SSR and TV bikers came first, then, in the future will come...

Now you know...

Wasn't Mad Max filmed using a camera ow down on the forks? Gave it that incredible sense of speed...

I had my camera mounted down low for a while- pretty decent results, but it's tough on the camera because it get's blasted by all the sand and grit and now the lens is shot...

Yeah I caught a glimpse of the hand of death in one of the quoted posts!

I hope it's not Tonys hand in one of them! He needs them to do his ebay bread and butter!

Yeah the Streethawk bike looked cool back in the day but not so much now. I think it's a yamaha 500 DT or somesuch offroad machine.

This is more like it, some sneak footage of an SSR - OTRT turf war:

Oh that wasn't you then?

A buddy of mine did speedway back in the day and his party piece was/is showing where his fingertips have regrown from being ground down a bit after a few high-speed tumbledowns.

Oh goodness no- that wasn't my hand! That mangled hand belongs to a guy who decided to clean the chain on his Gixxer with the bike running and in gear. Sure enough his fingers got run through the sprocket. Amazing that he had the presence of mind to grab a camera and take a picture though! :) A graphic reminder of how NOT to clean a chain! :D
