You guys are laughing, but would you honesty want this to have been one of your kids?

Call me old fashioned but i thought teenage years were for about getting to know the opposite sex in doses. Learning about each other, including learning about the emotional aspects about sex (ok, well maybe that part is more for women, not sure..but boys at least then learn about the emotional reactions of girls/women). A raw in your face sex show could be hardcore even for many adults, never mind impressionable teenagers.

Strange story. If true, im shocked the teachers facilitated this.

I'm not laughing at you Eek, knowing you're a Lady, but I think you're being naive about teenagers and sex nowadays.

You're probably not aware how many and how much teenagers are watching real live porn on their PC's at home in this era and I'm not just talking Thailand.

12, 13yr and up boys and girls know and have seen a LOT more about sex than we did in our youth, simply because sex is just one click away and we didn't have internet and sex websites in those days.

Obscure (but Oh my Gosh how exciting :) ) small pornographic magazines existed and were hard to get or/and find but if you wanted....you could.

Sex and porn websites might be forbidden in Thailand but also in other countries but you would be VERY surprised how smart these youngsters are (girls also!) to avoid the blockades by the governments and search and find what they want to see: porn and sex!

That some people and parents (in this case the UK) are so bloody hypocrite to send teachers home because they were responsible for their students during this trip in Thailand (and watched a live show) says more about the utter ignorance these people have.

Maybe they forgot HOW they found out about sex and porn when they were young......maybe they never bought obscure magazines, the Playboy, Hustler when they were young ?

You're shocked that the teachers "facilitated" this ?...hmmmmm...maybe the teenagers begged them to let them watch the show ? :D

I suggest you go and talk to a group of 16-18 year old girls (and boys) in ANY country in Europe, US, OZ...and you will be surprised but maybe, in your eyes: SHOCKED...how much they know about porn and sex and how many had sex already when they were 13 or even younger.

I'm not saying that that's a good thing or not, just talking facts.

So you say it's ok for 15-16 girls and boys to watch live sex shows because they can watch it on the internet?

Would it be ok for them witnessing a brutal murder because they have watched one on a TV show as well?

How about standing them up so they and watch a young woman being raped? Is it ok because they watched a couple of episodes of NYPD?

Some of you men are so out of touch with reality, absolutely no idea.

Would you take YOUR 15-16 yr old daughter/son to a live patpong sex show?...you know...pingpong ball, goldfish intermissions type?

There are some very sick men on this forum. :D

It's a paid for sex show by people engaging in an illegal profession (prostitution), being seen by youth who are under the legal drinking age in Thailand.

So next year what's the plan? The full-moon party?

A sexshow in Patpong is probably much healthier than any random porn they could find. Still, the teachers shouldn't have been a part of it. When I was in high school on first trip to Germany and 16years old, some of us also snuck out to find a strip joint, normal fbehaviour. I also climbed a drainpipe ten meters to meet with a Russian girl staying at the hotel and had to run away with a bunch of Germans shouting "HALT!". It was a memorable trip!

But the teachers were wrong here.

What does a voluntary sex act have to do with rape and murder? There are some sickos on here alright! wacko.gif

Obviously you didn't read his post.

He sugested that it would be no problem for young teens to watch live patpong sex shows because they may have seen examples on the internet!

FYI...there is a HUGE difference between watching something on a computer screen and standing there witnessing it first hand.

Yes, you're less likely to become a pervert chronic masturbator and actually go out there!

:)

When I worked in saudi Arabia I had a friend from Liverpool. His 2 sons were in an international school in Spain that the company paid for.

He convinced his wife to let the 16 year old boy take a week's vacation with him in Spain during the school break. He also intended to bring his 14 year old with them on the trip.

Secretly, he took them both to Thailand.

Eerything went fine...but the 16 year old took some pictures of the girl his father got for him from the bar.

We he got home to England Mom found the picture. Naturally all h#ll broke loose.

Mom was convinced her husband must be a degenerate for taking her sweet virginal 16 year old son wirh him to Thailand.

From what I understand it wasn't quite like that, but mom thought it was.

It ended in a divorce.

No sex please, we're British....as the play's title said.

You have quite a big mouth for someone who has no experience whatsoever with raising teenagers yet.

Maybe you should focus yourself a little more on your own "problem-task" you write about in your own topic, elsewhere on this forum, instead attacking me, being just a messenger ? but, knowing where you're from......it's way after midnight already in your area isn't it Livinginexile...? :D

Work tomorrow so perhaps my last post for the night.

BTW, I have 3 teenage children including one 17 yr old daughter.

The thought of her visiting one of these establishments makes me feel sick, anyone that sugests it's ok "because they probably seen it on the internet" deserves my contempt.

What a hidious thing to say, my own "task" is personal and inhand Laopo, moreover non of your business.

I was 26 whaen I happened to visit one of these "shows", I was shocked and distressed at what I saw. Believe me Laopo, I am NO prude!

What you say shows complete lack of respect for both women and the children who visited that establishment.

How could you say that!

Daughter: No, I wouldn't, and wouldn't approve of her going, however not primarily because of the content of the show but because it's a bar environment with drunk men in the audience, some of them potential perverts.

Son: No, I wouldn't, because it'd feel a bit awkward. However if I found out that he went with a group of friends or whatever then I'd be somewhat proud, while hoping that his basic sex education as well as moral education has prepared him.

There are some very sick men on this forum. :D

Such as those that equate sex with rape and murder? :) (But even if your answer to that is 'no', then I still agree with you. :D )

Since these shows aren't free, I am wondering who paid?

Scott, it's a newspaper report intended to be scandalous.. Most of it will turn out to be BS, or out of context. There are so many holes in this one.. For example, it claims there are live sex shows in Patpong, as in two people having sex on stage. That doesn't actually happen, and especially not in any kind of bar you would manage to get a group of kids into.

........visible in the countryside (without supervision) on a daily basis..........

I would not be too sure about that. whistling.gif

Gosh, I may turn out to be more of a prude than I imagined. :) Perhaps a visit is in order. (I always disliked Patpong though, far too touristy for my taste.)

The news report still strikes me as very leaky though. I googled it and it's only on this Indian site, which quotes it as being lifted from News of the World..

News of the World. That's about as reliable a news source as . ... as a particular newspaper in Thailand. :D

EDIT: Ok, I dug up the original article and nowhere does it mention that teachers took their students there. It's the News of the World so it's written in a way to make it sound like that, but it seems that some of the students managed to hit the town on their own and went to Patpong, and saw a show there. Come on. That's a potential disciplinary measure against those kids at most. The rest is fog & mirror 'journalism' of the type you see so often when Thailand is the topic. :D

Has anyone else here ever been 16 years old? You know how it goes, you want to hit town and see something different, go to Patpong, then brag about it afterwards, but when it turns out that your parent's response is shocked (parents never been to Thailand, brainwashed by the typical reports you read about Thailand so jumping to all kinds of outlandish conclusions).. So then the parents freak out, at which point you as the 16 year old you do the sensible thing and move into a victim role.

Sheesh. My dad used to take his students on trips to places like Paris. There were ALWAYS a couple hel_l bent on getting into trouble, some may even see this as the whole point of the trip.

If the kids did it on their own, there is really nothing to talk about. Come on, they are almost legally adults!

If my kids snuck out with a bunch of kids from school and did this, I would mostly be amused, but that is because I know Patpong and that they would not be in danger.

This is the originial article:

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/58662...in-Bangkok.html

(Read VERY carefully.. they try to pin it on the teachers, but I think the key is :

"Later in the evening some of the pupils moved on to the city's sleazy red light area, whose streets are lined with bars offering sex shows. "

News of the World is also a bit strange in calling the watching of a sex show 'much worse' than smoking and drinking. As if watching a sex show gives you cancer. And note how the paragraph about ' a girl posting pictures on her facebook page' was actually just a picture of some outside pub with beer bottles 'on the table'. Not people drinking. Not in Patpong. But this cements the 'young girl' into reader's minds as being the topic, then the next paragraph mentions that some students (16-18 years old) went to Patpong afterwards.

I've said it in my very first post in this topic: trust journalists and newspapers at your peril, and when the topic has anything to do with Thailand then The Guardian and Independent are every bit as bad as the NotW.

How could you say that!

Have it your way "LIE" but I'm sorry if I was mistaken where you live now; last time you talked about it you were in OZ's east coast but never mind.

And, about your own "task" being so personal and not of my business: it was you who opened that topic about your own problem and made it public here on TV, not me, and you also opted for not answering anymore to numerous members who tried to help you; that says something about you, not me.

And, about the present OP article: first of all it was published in a UK TABLOID newspaper so it's likely to be debatable if the content, we're discussing now, it 100% the truth but apart from that I was addressing my previous first message to Lady member "Eek" trying to explain what teenagers nowadays learn and KNOW already about sex and porn, available with just 1 click on their PC's.

Maybe you would be surprised about the enormous know-how of teenagers nowadays in relation to sex and porn, including your own kids. Kids this age do not particular inform their parents about what they know, do and don't, related to sex.

My message was not about what I think is good or wrong.

But that doesn't mean we should all join the ranks of some hypocrite people, shouting from the roofs that it is so bad and disgusting that some teenagers watched a real "live" show in BKK and the teachers are to be blamed.

By the way, who told that Tabloid it was a "live" sex show and was that a fact or a rumour ?

A sensational tabloid writing with headlines like:

* Lessons in Shame

* Jordan is wild in bed

* are you getting great sex ?

* X Factor Star's Porn Shame

:) ...give me a break that we're even discussing an article in a disgusting and sensational tabloid...but we all know: sex sells.

Winnie's post sums it up perfectly and I hope people read it before wagging a spindly finger.

Meanwhile 2000 students during Carnage UK went wild and contributed to the UK's betterment by such stupid acts like Philip L's urinating on a WWI memorial and then passing out on the street.

Damm you guys in England have the Educational system right! LOL Lucky ass teens. Wish I could have done that in a school field trip. I hope the teachers can find new and better employment soon, Poor guys.

I would not mind if my 16 or 18 yr old wanted to see that. Whats the big deal. I mean why is it ok to see violence on TV and in Video games but when it comes to something so natural and healthy like hetro sexual sex all of a sudden it's a big problem?

These teachers have landed in hot water and in retrospect must be regretting not keeping their charges on a tighter lead. But at the same time I wasn't convinced by the reported 'insider's' comment that people only go to Patpong if they want to see a sex show. If the pupils indeed sneaked away in the evening and the party was merely in the Silom area than that is hardly a huge misjudgement by the teachers. Further towards Sukhumvit or Ratchadapisek or Saphan Kwai and there would have been other dubious nightspots to visit. And of those nightspots Patpong, with its pavement market, is the one where 'innocent' tourists are most likely to take a stroll (perhaps taking the odd peep through bar entrances). Okay, somebody should have been making sure that these kids did no more than look at the fake watches and the neon signs. I tend to agree with the earlier poster who questioned what kind of show they may have seen. I can't see a group of kids getting into the more iffy upstairs bars.
