Monthly Allowance For Student At Kru

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a college student attending Kanchanaburi Rajabaht Univeristy (KRU)?

I will be sending my wife's daughter to KRU for the school year beginning May 2010 and need to have an idea of how much it will cost me, exclusive of college tuition and college fees.

Thanks, in advance, for all replies. :)

You will be looking at around....30,000 baht per year.

Thanks, Ski_Goong. Is that for the school year (10 months) or 12 months?

My sister in law gives her 2 daughters and one son 12000 baht a month allowance (excluding rent) each to study in Bangkok.

No frills would be 5k a month in my humble opinion

Hi 'legendarysurfer'

Meaning 'Board and Lodgings' food, travel to and from Kanchanaburi Rajabaht Univeristy which is a bit out of town or pocket money?

Not too sure what you meant by your post.

Please explain a little bit more so that we could help you and your wife's daughter to calculate the monthy costs.

Yours truly,

Kan Win :)

Thank you, mca and Kan Win... To be more specific, yes, I am looking at the total living cost, exclusive of college tuition and college fees. "Total living cost" would include food, transportation, housing, pocket money and "etc." :)

I reckon accommodation where your stepdaughter would feel safe and comfortable would start at around 3k baht a month. I mean something that I would feel happy enough to stay in. I live in Khon Kaen (and most provincial towns etc are roughly the same price) and visited one of my wife's staff who lived in a 1500 baht a month place. Could I stay there myself? Sure. It had a roof and a bed. Would I want to live there for any length of time? That's a different matter.

For eating if it's moo ping and 5 baht sticky rice for breakfast. a plate of fried rice at the uni for lunch and some mama noodles for dinner then it can be done on the cheap sure. The big question is do you want your stepdaughter to live or merely exist for 4 years?

I my humble opinion if you could sort her out for everything (room transport food etc) for around 15k baht a month she should be fairly comfortable without going OTT . A lot of Thai families exist on a lot less for the whole lot of them. "Exist" being the operative word.
