Flight Plan is not just an airline code and flight number. It contains a lot more details of a flight, such as origin and destination, route, time, duration, flight level, aircraft type, paint color, number of people on board, etc.. This is not available to everybody. Maybe, Khun Suthep can ask for a commercial flights plan the world over, but I doubt if he can ask for a specific flight of a non-regular private jet. So the allegation seems to have ground (or had cleverly been planned to avoid any protest), if the airport engineer did seek knowledge of the arriving/leaving flight plan of a particular aircraft beyond his duty. Expelled the charge d' affaires, and followed by an arrest of the engineer just before weekend seems even a well timing. Unfortunately, that the young man fell in the hands of HunSen. Though I thought he will be released soon, maybe with some kind of publication to embarrass the Thai government more. Now, we have to see how able is our government to help him out.

Lets not confuse the top level voice of Abhisit as PM.

and the other lower level voices all sticking the chins out,

and making pronouncements.

They only ones that really matter at Abhisit and Kasit vs FM andf Hun sen in C.,

and Hun Sen is clearly having a poke at Kasit. But Abhisit seems to be even-handed in this,

even as other voices are not so circumspect.

This very much resembles a cold war scenario, Hun Sens roots shall we say,

and most pols of following generations thought this drivel was well in the past.

Did you see how the Cambodian leader avoided the APEC meetings?

Just for info:

The reason that the Cambodian leader avoided the APEC meetings is, that Cambodia is not a member country. :)

What's your point? There were non members of APEC in attendance. Cambodia has official observer status, as does Laos. My point was that Cambodia kept a low profile at the international political gathering. Cambodia has sent large observer delegations to other APEC meetings.

See, I do read the APEC news releases including the schedule of events and functions. :D

I guess my point was that as an APEC member, Abhisit is obliged to attend, whilst as a non-member Hun Sen has the option.

Cambodia is also hoping to acquire membership in the near future, so it is definitely in their interest to not rock any boats at the moment.

As for your other points in your previous post, I would agree with all. :D

Tensions ease as Thai envoys visit detainee

Diplomatic tensions between Thailand and Cambodia eased yesterday after Thai diplomats were allowed to visit the man being held in Phnom Penh on charges of spying.

The suspect, Siwarak Chotipong, was also allowed to talk to his mother on the phone. He told her and Thai diplomats that he was being treated well.

Simarak na Nakhon Panom, a teacher at Nakhon Ratchasima Technical College, talked to her son for about five minutes. "He told me not to worry, that he's fine and that everything will end soon," she said.

The woman admitted that there were more questions on her mind but she had held them back for fear they could have complicated his case.

Siwarak, an engineer at Samart subsidiary Cambodia Air Traffic Services, was arrested last week for allegedly supplying information about Thaksin Shinawatra's flight schedule to the Thai Embassy.

The suspect's mother said she was happy after hearing her son's voice, adding she had endured sleepless nights over anxiety about his health.

Simarak hopes to visit him in prison soon. If she can't, she would convey a message that "I miss him so much and I know he will be strong enough to take care of himself", she said.

However, diplomatic tensions appeared to have eased yesterday with Bangkok deciding against taking any more retaliatory measures.

The weekly Cabinet meeting did not even touch upon the row.

Cooperation and joint projects could not be reviewed immediately as the government has to work out the implications on ties and the effects they would have on people both sides of the border, acting government spokesman Panitan Wattanyagorn said.

Since Thailand has stopped retaliating at the diplomatic level, bilateral relations should improve, he said.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva welcomed the diplomats' visit as a good sign. Abhisit also called the detainee's mother to promise that his government would provide her son with all the necessary assistance.

The Thai Embassy's charge d'affaires, Chalotorn Paowiboon, and four other officials met Siwarak for half an hour yesterday for the first time since he was arrested. He said he was fine and in good spirits.

Chavalit undecided whether to pick up Thai engineer

Pheu Thai Party chairman Chavalit Yongchaiyudh has not decided whether he would fly to Cambodia to bring back a Thai engineer charged for spying in Cambodia, his aide Chawaengsak Thongsaluay said on Wednesday.

Chawaensak said he needed time to verify the new reports related to Chavalit.

The Thai press reported from a Cambodia radio programme claiming Chavalit's involvement, he said.

According to the Cambodian report, Cambodian authorities are expected to try Siwarak Chotipong for spying before granting him a pardon. Then Chavalit is expected to escort him back home.

Surely such a court case would take quite a long time although I personally in that postion may be tempted to plead guilty whether guilty or not if it meant an instant pardon. Wouldnt deportation then be the usual? This sounds like senator goes to Burma promises a few things quielty and walks away with a good swimmer kind of affairs.

This is clear that this poor child is a scapegoat victim.

Unfortunately you may well be right.

It also seems that air traffic controllers would have known the flight plan too. That raises the question of did Thaksin fly over Thailand and if he did why didnt the government do anything about considering they now say they want him back. I guess they may have been informed of the flight plan and aircraft but not the passenger manifesto. Then again it should have been easy enough to work out.

He became the bargaining chip, randomly chosen, it's nothing he has "done",

it's about setting the stage for Chavalit's and Thaksin's Performance,

he just returned to politics, Thaksin flies into Cambodia, a "spy is found", they will "rescue"

the Thai national to show how good they are at handling situations.... and how well acquainted they are,

this will go down well with the simple minds...to say: "Look this government can't do anything, I can!"

it's all premeditated and I am afraid there is more in Pandora's box!

But quite educating to learn how this guy is programmed and how he is trying to get it his way,

no manipulation is big enough...now think back to his hay days....then it get quite clear why he has

been forced out of office in a quiet coup de etat.... and immediately started his smut-campaign....since he is getting ever more entangled..
