Nong Khai-vientiane Crossing

Featured Replies

Just got back from my Laos trip.

First time out of the country with my non-immigrant o visa (multiple entry).

Parking my car - 50 baht for all day. Behind the 7-11. You can't miss it,it's walking distance to the border.

Bus for crossing the brdge - 20 baht per person.

Laos visa - 1500 baht. I stated 1 day, they stamped in for 1 month. This was done on the Laos side. Not

next door to the 7-11 Thai side.

Taxi to Vientiane - 500 baht return. Get your taxi after passing through passport control. It was actually

a tuk tuk that we had. A car would cost 600 Baht. When the guy drops you off in Vientiane he should pass

you his telephone number. Get someone to call him (20 baht) when your ready to come back.

Last but not least and more importantly is to buy your Beer Lao from the duty free at the border.

Thai wife and friend had no need for the passport photos (they had passports).

Scottish mate had time left on his tourist visa (about 3 weeks). He got the 14 day stamp coming back

into Thailand. Took him past his departure date so no worries.

I think thats all.

Thanks for the report. Your friend will have actually received 15 days permission to stay, but day of entry is counted as Day 1. :)

Yeah, it was a tuktuk in front and songthaew conversion behind, hence the sharing with schoolgirls (and additional income for driver).

Beer Lao makes it better :)
