Iranian Thief caught red handed

Department received a report that an Iranian tourist had stolen from a silver jewellery stand at the ‘Industry meets Pattaya Residents’ Fair, in front of Soi 13 on Pattaya Beach Road.

At the scene the police discovered the vendor detaining Mr. Amir Hossein Farahmand, aged 28, an Iranian national, who had attempted to steal three pieces of jewellery with an estimated value of 8,000 baht.

The vender, Mrs. Rasree Phanpetch, aged 39, from Bangkok, explained to the officers that she had taken space at the ‘Industry meets Pattaya Residents’ Fair along with fellow vendors from the Bangkok area, they wished to support this prestigious event and hopefully earn a little money to boot.

She explained that the man had entered her booth with his friends, one of who purchased some jewellery, however, her eagle eyed staff noticed the captured man slip a piece of jewellery into his pocket without paying for it. The staff member yelled for assistance from fellow traders, who quickly coming to her assistance, and they managed to detain the man before he could escape.

The arrested, claimed that he was innocent, however, with the evidence of three bracelets found in his pocket, all of which he had not paid for, his claims fell on death ears. He was taken to the police station and charged and will have to await his day in court.

In Pattaya they cut his "wotsit" off.

Another old story but anyway apparently this case already has been settled without the courts help.

Why would Saudi Arabia have anything to do with an Iranian caught stealing in Thailand?

And if he were British and had the presence of mind to concoct some story as to why the goods came to be in his possession without proof of purchase, many here on ThaiVisa would be screaming SCAM !!! :)

... "his claims fell on death ears "

This made me chuckle too.

You don't suppose that it was a Freudian slip do you? :)
