I have been reading the thread 'Is age difference a problem' which is now closed. I have some info. on this topic hence this new thread.

Three or four years ago a 75 year old Brit wanted to marry a 32 year old Chinese woman and bring her back to the UK to live. They had known each other for a couple of years and he visited her in China a number of times so you would think it was all legit. She was a doctor, an asset to any country you would think! But the Home Office refused her visa. They declared the age difference was such that it was clearly a scam by the parties in order to get her into the UK. Quite staggered me when I read it. Can't you fall in love at 75? And she's not a kid.

The other thread was closed as it had wandered away from visa issues into a general discussion on age differences.

As for the case you refer to, it is impossible to comment on the reasons for refusal without knowing, at the very least, what the refusal notice said. Do you have any actual details of this case, or is it just something you remember reading somewhere?

If all the other requirements for the visa were met then an ECO who refused simply because of an age difference would be on very dodgy ground indeed.

BTW, I've edited your post to remove some unnecessary bad language and abusive comments toward other immigrants.

most probably, in that particular case, husband had a history of marrying and divorsing foreigners, his wife was trying to come to the UK with an earlier husband or the emmigration had a record of a payment by wife to her husband.

from the news reports emmigrants do pay to trafficers some £30k to be in the country illegally, so fees for the legal stay might be much higher than that. If sudenly a poor, unemployed person gots tens of thousands in the bank or starts splashing money around and holidays in asia, than some agencies might be interesting to know, what's really happening.

Plus the fact that the Chinese probably lead the pack when it comes to the proxy marriage "for visa for citizenship" type relationships. I should know, I made a fortune out of 'em for a few years.
