Looking For Khon Kaen Painters/handymen

Featured Replies

I am looking for a reliable company/person who can paint my In-Law's house in Ban Fang, about 10 Km's west of Khon Kaen.

Can anyone recommend someone who can work to paint a 2 story exterior and other "clean-up/maintenance" projects for a few days?

And in case I have to freelance this, what do you recommend as a prevailing daily wage for "handyman" work. I don't want to be too cheap but I'm afraid I would also pay too much for this kind of labor. A painter in the States would easily cost 180 baht an hour.

"A painter in the States would easily cost 180 baht an hour."

Would that be for undocumented workers?

I think that's below the old minimum wage rate.

Since, I assume, your in-laws are Thai, why aren't they able to find someone? If they don't know anyone have them ask the head honcho for their area.

Not sure of the exact rate here, but I think the minimum wage in KK is somewhere in the 175-200 per day area. That would usually be for unskilled labor, which from your post I guess is all you're looking for.

Bad math on my part -- I should have typed 480 baht for $15 an hour.

My girlfriend and I want to surprise the in-laws with the maintenance work. I asked her if she knew anyone to do the work and she said she didn't. This forum seemed like a good place to get some reliable advice and still keep the element of surprise.

I live just down the road from Ban Fang and the rate you say is right for this area.

Again right in saying ask the head man. Should be loads of chaps willing to do the work. The ladies are good workers also. :)
