Changing From Non Im Ed To Spouse Visa

Featured Replies

I am on the way home for a few weeks so I was wondering whether to apply while there and kill two birds..or whether I could do it locally, any ifo??

I guess you mean a Non-immigrant "O" based on marriage. I don't think you will get one in Thailand unless you are also applying for a one year "Extension of Stay". Probably easier to apply for a new visa in your home country.

As said you can apply for a 12 month extension in Thailand if you meet the financial qualifications.

A Visa can only be obtained at a Thai Consulate in another country.

We really do not know what you have or want. There is no "spouse" visa - the normal visa for visiting wife is a non immigrant O (other). There is a spouse extension of stay for one year. But extensions of stay are not visas and are only handled by Immigration inside Thailand.

I will make is clearer, I am in Thailand, I live here, on a Non Imm ED visa, I want to switch to a non immigrant O, based on marriage, have Thai wife, can I do this in Thailand, or is it a must that I have it done outside the country... I thought that's what I asked, sorry for the confusion.

You have to apply at a Thai Consulate in another country.

thanks for clearing that up for me. You never know unless you ask I suppose, doing it domestically would have been too simple wouldn't it!!
