November 21, 200916 yr So apparently, according to this panel, there is no statistical benefit to women under 50 getting mammograms. or of girls getting PAP smears. Or self examination. Naturally this has raised the ugly specter of politics in medicine given the ongoing health care reform debate in the US BUT I do not want to go there. I am curious as to others opinions about this? Do you feel that its "good science" "bad science" or something else? Do you think you will ignore or follow the recommendations to not have a mammogram if you are under 50? And then there is the issue of self examination. Did this panel really say women shouldn't self exam? Or that girls under 21 don't need PAP smears? <deleted>? http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2009/11/18...tical-football/
