I have a total of two tourist visas in my passport: the first one was obtained in January this year from Kota Bharu and the second was from Kuala Lumpur in August. I intend to apply for a new tourist visa next month from Kuala Lumpur again. What are my chances? I've stayed a total of six months in Thailand this year.

Your chances are good. Haven’t seen any post yet reporting the denial of a tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur.

Any updates/changes on the KL embassy? Going down for my tourist visa in middle of the month.

No reported changes at KL. Alternatively you may wish to consider going to Vientiane and obtaining double entry tourist visa. With extensions and a border run in the middle that would give you nearly 6 months stay.
