Lozza Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 1: Whate time frame is the best to apply for an Non.O extension although Ill be getting in fact 15 mths (is this an issue) or just apply at end of permission to stay and forget the xtra 3 month stay . Is ther a cost associated with this?. Would I have to apply in the last Month of Visa or is it possible to extend and get a total 30 months over a 2 year period. 2, I am totally confused about the 800K v 400K figures. I am single and no connections in Thailandi is the 400K for Singles and 800K for couples is this reason for Monetery difference'? YOUR advice would be appreciated.
thaiphoon Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 If you are over 50 you can apply for extension of stay based on retirement if you meet the requirements. Requirements being 800k in Thai bank for 2 months prior to first application (3 months for subsequent extensions) OR 65k/month income OR a combination of the two arriving at 800k. In the case of income from abroad you will need to obtain an income letter from your embassy. In the case of income within Thailand, you will need to show tax receipts. If using the bank balance option you will need a letter from bank confirming the account balance. Note that if using the combination method there is no seasoning period. Fee: 1900 baht. 400k in Thai bank is one of the options for people applying for extension of stay based on marriage to Thai lady, so this does not seem applicable to you. You should apply for extension of stay during the last 30 days of your permission to stay. You can either apply towards the end of your current permission to stay or do a border run and obtain further 90 day permission to stay and then apply during the last 30 days of that new stay. If you decide on the second option you will incur some additional costs on doing final border run, but you gain time with extension starting later. Is really up to you.
