Making A Documentary

Featured Replies

Hello all,

A friend and I would like to make a little short film about thailand and thai people. We want to depict industriousness in connection with rebuilding life, business and livelyhood after the tsunami.

Therefore I want to ask here in the forum if any of you guys have met such a thai person, know someone we could talk to and maybe portrait, or if you in the last months yourself have seen such entrepreneurship depicted on your own travels.

We want to hear your story.

Thanks for all input.

Sorry lads, you've started a really sensible, serious topic. Most of the guys around right now will probably ignore it or not understand it. Not juicy enough. I'm afraid I live miles from the tsunami areas or I would be delighted to help.

bit patronizing that weren't it lampard? :D

yeah, we all don't understand the topic lads, can we talk about bargirls, songkran and dogs instead :o

I think the reality is that most(and not all!) Thais will sit and look at well meaning ferlang trying to rebuild schools soicial houseing ect and wont get off there ass untill there is some real money in it. Just ask any of the volunteers that went down there to help.

Sorry for sounding like a grumpy old bugger!

No not really. It's just that over the months I've started about 4 or 5 topics that I really wanted to know the answer to and I have had no help. And two days ago when I did give help it was shoved back in my face by the OP. But seriously, topics like this do not get the coverage they should. I wrote that to goad people into answering. It is something the whole world should know about. And not the coverage that the gutter pressof various countries gave it.

Ok see your point Lampard and I read that post when the advice was shoved back in your face, bang out of order.

I don't know anyone that could help the lads out and kudos to them for the project, sounds like a good one.

If I were in the same situation I would be asking the lads on the Phuket section of the forum first as they are local expats and may be able to help you more.

On top of that would say the best advice is to get down to Phuket yourself and start asking around, a bit of 'on the spot' work is needed to research such localised documentaries.

They'll be a lot of farang helping out down there that I think will be more than willing to point you in the right direction to find the Thai you need.

Good luck. :D

Thanks a lot for the replies. I will have a look around in the other forums and see what I can come up with.

Indeed I realise it is rather dificult to get contacts without actually going to the region. I just need some point in the right direction. Maybe some of you regulars know someone (who knows someone) on Phi Phi or Phuket, whom we might be able to get in touch with.

Greetings,

Simon
