I had a bad experience flying KL to stansted i was delayed 12 hours 39minutes. received 200ringits compensation in a credit shell that they didnt tell me about which expired. USELESS.

Put up in a dump of a hotel an hours drive from airport. No fun at all.

has anyone ever received any form of compensation from these goons.

They said initially the flight would be delayed for 11 hours. so they didnt have to cancel it!

Malaysian hospitality =)

Some questions:

1. Was the delay actually the fault of AirAsia?

2. Would it be true that no other airline has ever had a technical problem with their aircraft?

3. Seeing that that are not a big operation compared to the national carriers etc., and considering that they are a budget carrier and they have to watch every element of cost carefully to be able to offer cheap flights, would it not be sensible to assume that they don't have aircarft on standby all over the world?

And wouldn't the above analysis be fairly simple for intenting passengers? And wouldn't it be a simple decision to fly on another airline if you don't like the odds?

4. Would it be true that no other airline in the world has ever given passengers dodgy food? (Doesn't mean its' ok and doesn't mean it's ever going to happen again).

5. Can airlines totally control the qaulity of their food, especially if its' prepared by an outsourced kitchen?

6. It's a budget airline, do you really expect them to put you up in a 5 star hotel?

7. Do you really expect that the coupon doesn't have an expiry? Coupons for most things, any industry, and/or frequent flyer points on many airlines (incl. Thai) have an expiry date, it's normal.

6. If you don't accept the conditions etc., of a budget airline (and AirAsia spells out the conditions very clearly) then why fly with them in the first place?

My family has done over 50 flights with AirAsia, apart from a few minor delays (and I'm not sure each time that it was really their fault) i'm a happy customer and I'll use them again.

In fact we have flown 6 AirAsia flights within the last 6 months and have 4 more trips (5 passengers each trip) booked for the next 5 weeks. I'm happy!!!

I believe that EU-standards apply, where flights to/from Europe are delayed, it might be worth checking whether your original compensation-offer complied with these legal requirements ?

But don't hold your breath.

as this flight was flying into the EU, the EU law applies. and just a few days ago, the EU announced new improved rules for passengers, which means - depending how many hours the flight was delayed - you get a compensation of 250, 400 or even 600 Euro !

check the news-websites in your home country to find out more, or google for it in your respective language

AH, I found something for your from the UK (as u were flying into Stansted). published just days ago !

this is a Dutch-based company which will help you to get your compensation from an airline. they charge a commission in case they are successfull, otherwise their service is FREE.

definitely worth checking out (and all other TV-members from Europe should save the URL as well, it might be very useful one day).

HOPE THAT HELPS ! :)

As I understand the EU Regulations, they apply to any flight originating from an EU airport. However if it is a flight to the EU, the regulations only apply if you are travelling on a flight operated by an EU-based carrier. In this case I suspect you might be out of luck in this regard.

Absloutely. Thankyou very much. Its really not the money but the principle. Also the incredibly shoddy way they handled a legitimate complaint. To other posters if you think nearly 13 hours delay is ok Id be surprised.

I also continue to use Air asia and think their service is mostly very good. I just want them to address this issue properly.

Pay full fare and stop complaining. But I doubt either of those will happen.

A little respect please. This person had a bad experience on Asia Airlines. Many of us are surprized not to have a problem with them. I see AA has it budget "groupies". I have had many problems with them but continue to fly them because the SOBs are so dam_n inexpensive, i.e., cheap, like me. I am very glad they are on the scene becouse it brings down prices. It does concern me that paying the Captain @$40,00 US a year might be bottom fishing- Not a place to save. With large aircraft pilots and plactic surgeons, you get what you pay for.
