Some Clarification Regarding Boarder And Visa Runs

I would just like some clarification please.

I have a triple entry tourist visa and my 1st 60 days visa is nearly up.

I’ll be doing a boarder crossing via friendship bridge

As I understand it all I have to do is exit Thailand and return to receive another 60 days.

TV as long as everything is in order.

I was talking to an experienced expat the other day and he was telling me that I would only get a 15 days regardless of whether I have a triple entry visa or not as the rules have changed,even though I already have a triple entry visa. He also went on to explain that I would have to stay over night in Vientiane and apply for a new TV visa.

I tried to explain that even though I have never done a visa run or a boarder run before the 15 and 30 day permission to stay only applies if you don’t have a visa.

Also he had a friend who was starting a new business doing visa runs from Udon Thani to friendship bridge who he introduced me to and he could not clarify what I was saying and seemed confused. Lol. I did say to him that if he is doing visa and boarder runs that he should know. I also said that if you read the Thai Visa web site it pretty well explains every thing.

In short, with a current triple entry TV visa all I have to do to receive another 60 days is exit and return to Thailand regardless whether it’s by land or air and it’s within the validly date.

With a tourist visa you get 60 days on entry, regardless if you enter by air or by land transport.

Note that you can extend each entry on a tourist visa by 30 days for 1,900 days. But make sure you use the last entry before the visa expires, otherwise you lose that entry.
