Driving Licence

Featured Replies

Can I get a thai driving licence in a neighbouring province. The chap in charge of the province where I live refuses to give me a 5 year licence and for the past 3 years has only issued me a 1 year licence and I had to take the theory test 2 times..............

You only have one motor office in your province?

I can't see any reason why he should refuse you a 5 year licence after your first year. The DL&T are all computerised now, so if you apply in another province they will see you have one issued already.

I would very potitely ask them why a 5 year is refused.

There has been reports about refusal for 5 year DL.

In all cases the bases was that they did not had a Non-immigrant visa.

Interesting. Up here the prerequisit for any licence is a non immigrant visa. period. Althought there have been tales of people getting them on tourist visas. If indeed the OP is on a tourist visa, he should consider himself lucky he has one at all, and not make waves. :)

There could be another reason for it..............in order to get a five year licence you have to wait until the one year one has ran out, even the day after. Believe it or not if you go to renew it while it is still in date they can only give you another one year licence. TIT

HL :)
