I'm planning a road trip with my wife leaving from kohn kaen and making our way down the south-east coast of Thailand and coming back up the south-west coast. My wife tells me, that in the news on TV, they are saying there is severe flooding down south right now due to rain. I'm wondering what areas this is affecting and where to avoid? Some of the places we are considering stoping at are Hua hin, Chumpon, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh lanta, Koh pi pi, ao lak, khao lak, and Phang Nga. Also if anyone knows any lesser known beaches that have cheaper accomadations let me know.

We are planning on renting a car (Honda jazz) from the airport in Kohn Kaen. There website says about 1200 baht for one day, is this standard? Can you nagotiate with them at all?

Also, is there a car ferry that runs between chumpon and koh phangan, or does it only go between don sak - koh samui - koh phangan?
