Bkk To Cha-am

Featured Replies

I am needing some advice on the most economical and efficient way to go to Cha-Am

on the 19th December.

Can anyone help?

Mini bus for around 150 baht.

Cha Am is only 2 hours or so from Bangkok if you drive.

Yep, as Nio says, a Minibus journey from Victory Monument, can be had for around 150Bt

train is cheap, can't remember 3rd class fare but probably 50 Baht..

make sure you go 3rd class, the second and first classes, if available, have the aircon on full blast and you will galloping pneumonia by the time you get to Cha Am

3rd class has fans, windows open and once out of Bangkok the countryside views are stunning, moreover, Thai people are a joy to travel with.

there will be plenty of food/drink vendors on board

Disadvantage, if you think it so, is that it takes about 4 hours++

while Victory Monument 'white knuckler' mini-bus is about 2 hours+++

Very stunning indeed are the sights of assorted refuse heaps beyond Nakorn Pathom and make-shift illegal dwellings of slum-people. The 50 b fare is the farang overcharge-Thai go for free. That is IOF you can find any real rot thamada=normal all-stops trains, as 99% of trains doin this route are express-wanting another 50/70/80b surchrage and not having 3d c.
