Visa Set To Expire While Overseas - What To Do?

Featured Replies

I'm planning a trip back home to Canada this summer and see that my 1-year permit to stay on my O visa is set to expire while I'm there.

What to I need to do to ensure I'm able to return to Thailand on this same visa? I know I can easily get another visa in Canada, but I'd rather keep this same visa in case I apply for residency at some point.

Any way to do this in advance of my trip?

Going home for about a month.

For people with permissions to stay that expire after they return to Thailand, get a reentry permit at Thai immigration.

For you, whose permission to stay expires DURING your trip in Canada, you must get a new annual extension in Thailand before you travel. While typically Thai immigration offices welcome new extension applications 30 days before expiry, they usually will welcome earlier applications with a good reason. Proof of travel is considered a good reason.

I was able to get mine 60 days before I left after explaining I would be abroad.
