Visa Time

Featured Replies

Hi

I would like to stay in los for a period of 6 months or more but the aussie consulate-general in south australia suggested i take a double entry tourist visa which will give me 4 months with 1 exit/return after 60 days, then another 60 days, and then thats it, i cannot apply for a retirerment visa because i have a criminal record from my younger days, if any can give me any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Each 60 day tourist visa entry can be extended 30 day for 1,900 baht at an Immigration office inside Thailand.

If you wish to retire in Thailand that can be done with 800k in Thai bank account for 2 months. You then visit immigration with proof/bank letter and apply for change of visa status with 21 days remaining on entry and TM.7 extension of stay application, copies of passport/departure card and 2,000 baht for conversion and 1,900 baht for one year extension of stay for retirement.

As said your Double Entry Tourist Visa will give 6 months.

You can apply for 12 month extensions based on Retirement in Thailand.

You can always get another Tourist Visa from a neighbouring country if needed.

All correct. When applying for your 1 year extension based on retirement within Thailand, no criminal check is done/required.

This is only required if you apply for the retirement visa (non immigrant O-A) in Australia where they indeed require police clearance.

Apart from the 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank, you could also use monthly income. If you have a verifiable income (pension,...) of 65,000 Baht or more and get this certified by your embassy in Bangkok, you will get the extension without needing the 800k Baht in the bank.

Or a combination of the two, i.e. 40,000 income (equals 480,000/year) with an additional 320,000 in the bank to bring the total up to 800,000.

Alternatively, if you're in WA, and you can get a copy of an ID card from a Thai national along with a note that he/she invites you over for a visit to Thailand, you will be able to get a 1 year multiple entry non immigrant visa at the Perth consulate!

Not sure at the other consulates/embassy in Australia though.
