Problems With Firefox

Featured Replies

Recently I have been having a few problems with Firefox.

Firstly, it seems to crash quite often nowadays. I can restart it and go through the same web pages again without problems. It's not really a big problem but is a little annoying.

The main problems comes when searching with Google. Often when I click on the search results I get redirected to another web page that has nothing to do with what I am clicking on. For example today I clicked on a link to a page in the BBC website but up came to a page that was something about Yahoo Malaysia.

I have cleared all cookies, run a virus check but still get the same result.

I use Firefox version 3.5.5

If I change to using Chrome there are no problems.

Any advice? (apart from changing to Chrome).

I also am having major issues with the latest release of FF. Seems to crash/freeze fairly regularly for no apparent reason at any point (usually at the most inconvenient times of course). It won't even let me do a force quit and I have to restart the entire PC when it happens. I've searched the forums/threads but also not found any solutions.

Tats

Is that a Beta version? I am using their most stable release version 3.0.15

version 3.5.6 automatically installed this morning when I click on Firefox...

As for the Freezing of Firefox, found that if you just go somewhere, play a game, open a document etc, then go back to FF it is working again. ...... failing that go to the task manager [CTRL + ALT + Delete then click on Task Manager] and close Firefox, then when you restart all the tabs re-open where you were before the freeze.

Uhm I installed version 3.5.6 this morning and just now it crashed again.

I also did the same google search as yesterday and tried to open the same web page and again was directed to Yahoo Malaysia. Other links seem to be ok.

If I do the same search using Chrome I can open the correct website. Maybe I'll uninstall Firefox and then re-install it. I don't want to use Chrome.

If I were you, I will deep scan the comp for possible malware as FF do not crash so often in a normal comp.

I'm running 3.5.6 with all updates applied . . . when it freezes for me (and there still doesn't seem to be any one specific thing that causes this as yet) I'm unable to do a force quit and have to restart the entire PC . . . such a pain! :)

Have you disabled the Skype extension? It can cause a lot of trouble if enabled. It did in my FF

For those who like Firefox but are having problems with it, you could try Flock. All the Firefox add ons work with Flock and I can't see any speed difference.
