pschef
Just renew for the first time in Mea sai, I would previously have done in Chiang mai. But the point is you must wait for a long queue and so many stories about how they treat you etc. I always thought it would be harder in Mae sai NOT AT ALL. Mae sai are very helpful and polite. When I told them I am applying for retirement, I have letter from British Consulate. Bla Bla. I then mentioned my Thai wife is with me. Completely fell over them self to help me. OH PANRATYAA CON THIA. They asked me to provide Tapian ban plus marriage cert (I already had it double copies plus ID copy of my wife). I arrived at 10 am I was out with new 1 year by 10 30. I can only say Mea sai is excellent Edited December 16, 2009 by pschef
Maestro
The Mae Sai immigration office asked you for a couple of things that are not normally needed for a retirement extension but no harm done, I’m sure. Perhaps not bad for them to have details of your next of kin on file. -- Maestro
pschef
Yes I never gave those things before, another thing puzzled me this time. British consulate normally just accept the evidence of income, no real questions. This time quite alot of questions, also wanted to see proof of transfers to Thailand. I thought this a little strange, maybe they have been reading some of the posts made in our Forum
