Just picked up my new VIOS yesterday. The sales gal recommended gasohol 95, any differing opinions?

She also recommended that when I take the car in for the 1000km service I should opt not to do the oil change yet because it wouldn't be needed so soon. I understand about the possibility there may be metal fragments or shards from a new engine being worked in ending up in the oil. How likely is that with a car that's just rolled out of the factory last month?

Lastly all the material (manual, pamphlets) are in Thai (I can read it all no problems but it's a chore) any chance of getting it in English? I've asked her already and it it looks like she can't/isn't willing to get em' for me.

We bought a Vios about 7 months ago in BKK, wife took care of everything and I don't even know the name of the dealer but....she did have the oil changed at 1000 km at my urging and again at 10000. If I am not mistaken it was free. I'll check on the manual but I think we have one in English, I will be in Thailand next week, so give me a little time to respond.

Vios can run any benzene/gasohol avilable in LOS, except E85 (85% ethanol). However I d say 95E10 is the best choise when looking at performance, price/ milage and wear on engine.

I would replace oil on 1000 km, worst case its 1000 baht. And later replace every 10k km or 6 months. Replace oil filter each time.

The owners manual probably calls for 91 gasohol, and putting 95 into the car is a complete waste of money. If you want to extend the life of your car, use the money you save buying 91 gasohol instead of 95 to put synthetic oil in the engine. That might actually do some good, especially in the intense heat here in Thailand. It's an absolute myth that higher octane fuel does any good or prevents any more wear in an engine that does not need it. Also, I never met a car salesperson who really knew anything about how the cars were engineered.

in most of thailand, 91 gasohol is not available. so 95 gasohol would be the cheapest fuel

we was told by toyota we should use benzene 91 for the new vios.
