Home Bakery Equipment In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi

Is there anywhere in Bangkok that sells specialist baking/cooking equipment? I'm not opening a bakery, just want to get some baking trays, bread maker and a small food dehydrator for home use. I've tried my local Central and all of the major supermarkets, but with no luck. I never thought I'd miss Argos!!! Does anyone know of anything downtown?

Cheers

Hi, Nick,

Central has a bread maker (about 7,000 baht). They have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for about 30,000 baht. I know nothing about dehydrators. You might check out Chatuchak market for some items, but only guessing. Your best luck will be in smaller specialty stores that will seem invisible to most casual passers by. Try looking in the Thai Yellow Pages online in English. (http://www.yellow.co.th/). Don't neglect Makro.

try verasu on radio road. they have all the stuff you will need. they have other branches as well om bankgok.

The main Verasu shop on Wireless road, about halfway between Sukhumvit and the U.S. Consulate, has a very good, and somewhat pricey, array of baking electronics and accessories. They stock a couple versions of electric bread machines usually for 5-7,000 baht... Other than Verasu and sometimes Central as I recall, bread machines are not so easy to find in Thailand for some reason, and a lot of people/farang end up bringing their own from abroad.

Basic bakeware, pans and trays and such, is available in various markets such as Villa and Carrefour. Central Department stores also have a lot of bakeware. There's also a baking supplies shop near the Phong Phrom BTS Station, located just beyond the Fuji Japanese market on Soi (I'm away from home now) 33-1 or one of those there.

Everything you mentioned is not so hard to find, though I can't say I recall having seen any food dehydrators in my time in/around BKK...But then I wasnt really looking for any either....

I have seen dehydrators at Verasu in the past. The bakery supply stores are good places to buy silicon sheets and other baking supplies. Also good for buying bulk ingredients. I use the one in Chinatown near Saphan Han, but think the one mentioned in another post is may be the UFM baking & cooking school.

Yes, correct... The one near Phrom Phong is the UFM place, next to a baking school and just down from the Fuji Japanese market there.
