Udon Thani - Vientiane Visa Run On Non Immigrant B Multi Entry Visa

Featured Replies

Hi All,

This is my first time having to do this - so would appreciate your input. I have Non Immigrant B visa and am getting close to the end of my first 90day period (Jan 12 is the deadline). I am heading to Hua Hin shortly so figured that while I am in Udon Thani (nice and close to a border) I might as well do a visa run.

My questions are - what is the easiest way to do this from Udon Thani - what time do buses leave etc.

Also, I assume I just have to get a stamp as I already have the multi-entry.

Do I need to stay for a night in Vientiane or can I return same day?

Thanks in advance

Adam

You will need to exit Thailand and enter (get stamped into) Laos. You will need a visa which can be obtained on arrival at the border. Cost around 1,500 baht dependent on nationality and you will need to take a recent passport sized photo with you. Once you are stamped into Laos you can turn round immediately if you want and exit (get stamped out of) the country. On re-entry into Thailand you will receive a new 90 day permission to stay.

There is some information on travelling from Udon Thani to the border at NongKhai in this thread to which other members can add.
