I'm 37 and from the UK. I'm self employed and work outside of the UK but for a UK company. I return to Thai every 2 months for 1-3 weeks, this can turn out to be 10-12 weeks leaving me with the possibility of having to do a boarder run every two weeks after the 30 days standard T visa has ended. It happened twice this year, the first time I travelled to Vientiene and got the 60 day double entry T visa for free. I have made do with that this year but it still left me having to do some 15 day visa runs... :D

So I've decided it's now time to get a visa that allows me 90 days, multiple entry for 12 months...

I'm married in Thai with a son, we have a house together with car, motorbike, dogs etc. all in the wifes name (not the dogs). I have a Thai bank acount in my name with my Thai address (just for bringing the money in). I will be looking to spend at least 6 months each year, including 2 trips of 60 days or more + Xmas & New Year, in Thai. I also want to apply for my Thai driving liecence and maybe later open a bissiness.

I want to apply for my visa, when I'm in the UK (prob Hull via post), before I return to work early January 2010. I will not be returning to Thai until March and that will prob only be for 2 weeks (ha ha how many times have i thought that). I have another passport I use for work so that does not create any problem waiting for visa returns etc.

What options do I have?

How much are they?

How long does it take at Hull from/to UK address?

What documents do i need to produce from Thai?

Do I need money in a Thai bank if so how much?

Just wanted to hear some of your thoughts and experienses before going to embassy website etc.

Cheers and all the best for

2010 :D:):D woop! woop!

12 month multiple entry costs £100

Turn around via post to Hull is 48 hours...i.e post Monday, you'll have it back Wednesday.

The 12 months start from the date of issue, then you'll get your first 90 days on entry and if you time things right can squeeze 15 months out of it.

You do have other options being married, having a child etc but these require more paperwork, 400,000 in bank etc, but can be done in Thailand.

I'm sure other will give you more detailed info.

I've heard this before. How can you get 15 months out of a one year visa? If you re-enter and the expiry date is in 10 days time, won't they just give you 10 days or will they give another 90 days. Curious as I'm in the UK at the moment and will be applying to Hull soon.
