I've got the 1 Gb original RAM and want to expand to the maximum capacity; anybody know what this is for an ASUS 1000H series netbook with XP and an Atom processor? I'll also have the installer test to confirm that the install is successful; other than startup what other tests are recommended?

Would want an ASUS dealer to purchase from and to do the installation...can anyone point the way at Panthip Plaza?

thanks in advance...

Get a 2GB Kingston stick and install yourself, it's extremely simple. (unscrew underside access panel, pop out 1gb ram, pop in 2g ram)

you could go for 4gb, but it's only really worthwhile if you are running windows7 64bit edition.

so, we can say, that when one goes to fire up with the new 2Gb RAM there won't be any issues? Will the machine instantly recognize the new hardware without any messages/ required action, etc.?

yew guys are makin' me nervous... :)

There won't be any issues. No required action needed.

We've installed memory in hundreds of machines and are yet to see any problems in the process.

all right, then...the KVR667D2S5/2G is a Kingston product available at any component seller at Panthip or any suggestions where to purchase? I don't live in BKK so just reckoned I'd head to wherever is well known to buy it...

thanks for the help... :)

Yes most computer shops should have it. You also have the option to order it online, for example here.

hey!...right on! I can buy online and pay in baht using a K-web 'card'...excellent; sure beats wandering around BKK when I got other business to attend to...

many thanks and all the best :)

Or just view properties for "My Computer" and check the memory there. Probably quite a lot easier for a novice computer user.

I ordered the 2 Gb Kingston memory from invadeIT.com; 1901 baht incl EMS shipping, arrived at the P.O. 2 days after dispatch. The most complicated part was arranging the transfer of funds with Kasikorn bank using their 'one time password (OTP)' procedure, otherwise, easy as pie, effortless installation, just need to find a miniature phillips screwdriver for the cover disassembly/assembly...

no further action required on startup and the upgrade is instantly noticeable...didn't see any change in 'properties' in 'My Computer' though; still shows .99 Gb RAM...I'll check out the BIOS later...

many thanks for the assistance...I hardly had to move from my chair to do the upgrade!

I actually think that the Thai internet banks are quite okay, I use Bangkok Bank, Siam Commercial, Kasikorn and Ayudhya on a daily basis, and I quite like the OTP feature, back in my home country in Europe there is no such security feature. What I also like is that you can see the account name of the account you are about to transfer to, that you cannot back home either.

Of all the internet banks I find Kasikorn the best to use, second is Siam Commercial (they have the lowest transfer fees by far as well).

Sorry that was a bit OT.

Anyways glad to hear that you got the upgrade sorted out without problems.
