January 4, 201016 yr Hi Folks, I am an Indian and am 35 years old. I have applied for a one year extension based on marriage to a Thai national using the "400,000 baht in the bank" route. This will cover me for most part of the year 2010. I am just wondering will I be allowed to keep making these extensions (2011,2012.so on regardless of the "route" which may change) WITHOUT HAVING A JOB in Thailand? My query arises from the discussion my wife and I had with one of the immigration officer last week in Hua Hin who said that I have a to find a job in Thailand before my next extension request in 2011 otherwise there is a sure chance that my extension will be rejected. Please advise. Best Regards, Lucky
January 4, 201016 yr The requirements are 400,000 in the bank OR an income of 40,000 a month (which can be from abroad). As long as you meet the requirement you have nothing to worry, job in Thailand or not.
January 4, 201016 yr If going the 400k bank balance route at renewal, don't forget that funds will need to be in the account for 3 months prior to renewal of extension of stay.
January 4, 201016 yr The officer was wrong. You can't work in Thailand with a non O. So nobody can ask you to work in Thailand in order to renew your non O. If you work you need to have a non B
January 4, 201016 yr Author Thanks to all for replying on my query and will keep in mind all the points mentioned. Best Regards, Lucky
January 4, 201016 yr The officer was wrong. You can't work in Thailand with a non O. So nobody can ask you to work in Thailand in order to renew your non O. If you work you need to have a non B You need a work permit to work legally in Thailand, and that can be based on Non-O visa/Non-B visa or extension of stay based on marriage/employment.
January 4, 201016 yr Sorry, I didn't know you could have a work permit based on a non O visa. Still nobody can ask you to get a work permit in order to renew your non O visa.
