Royal Thai Police

Featured Replies

I was out socialising with aparty of people last night one of whom was still in his very smart uniform :) the dark blue of Royal Thai Police.....as i am not fluent in thai and did not get the opportunity to delve too much into the day to day work of his unit,i was wondering what is their main role in thai policeing.

I have tried looking on the net but have come up with nothing on them and what they do??

Arent they all "royal"? Its just the name for the police I think.

So to answer your question what they do....pretty much nothing :-)

They use Police liveried vehicles to take their family shopping at the local Supermarkets, take the family to eat out at restaurants and go to parties drinking until they can drink no more, then drive or ride off using the Police vehicle. Other than that nothing! of course unless you pay them...

the police force in Thailand is known as the Royal Thai Police.

(they come under the royal patronage, and hence the title)

Their functions are similar to those in any other countries - internal security - and there are various units within the police force.

given the question has now been answered, and to prevent any potential libellous remarks against the police force, this topic is now closed.
