Rimmer
In the early hours of Monday Morning a terrified street vendor made his way to Dongtan Police Sub-Station located on Jomtien Beach to report an armed robbery. Khun Wichan aged 40 explained to Police that he was selling bags to tourists in bars around the Jomtien Beach area and while inside Soi 5, close to the Immigration Office, he decided to relieve himself close to a tree. Two men, whose faces were concealed by helmets, approached on a motorbike and the passenger approached the victim and placed a gun at the back of the victim’s neck and ordered him to hand over cash and valuables. At first Khun Wichan claimed he had no money but the armed assailant searched Khun Wichan and found a wallet with around 10,000 Baht cash inside. At this point he was struck across his face by the armed man who left with his accomplice on their motorbike in the direction of the new Jomtien Second Road. Police are now searching for the two suspects as a matter of urgency before they strike again. pattayaone.net [newsfooter][/newsfooter] 2010 01

Scott
I hope they catch the guys. This attack is pretty braze. I wonder if it's the economy or drug addiction--or some combination.
Jingthing
There are some rough workers camps in the vicinity. No surprise really.
Basil B
Seems a bit strange, he was selling bags in the early hours of the morning (presume by that, between 12 & 2am?) why did he not go back to one of the bars that almost certainly still been open (otherwise why was he in Soi 5) for help? or if they were closed then the Jomtien Thani?
