3 Alleged African Con Men Arrested In Bangkok

Liberia and Cameroon are not parts of Nigeria, but all happen to be in Africa.

Most of these scams originating in Africa have authentic precedence, Individuals and coporations still collude 3rd world citizens and their goverments in all types of deals to rip off the countries in the continent.

Zimababwe was intentionally made destitite by the west just to show that without them earning where they dont sow , they have the ability to make things go bad, very quickly.

The Nigerian president has been missing for 2 months and no one knows his whereabout, yet no news on CNN or BBC.

Ask yourselves, will these foreigners and expatriates that are always duped be convinced to part with their currency if it was one of their kind promising them a pound for a penny? They just felt they as might well part the fool with his fortune by a small investment.

They can only get greedy fools that will chose to deny themselves all the obvious signs of being scammed to make a quick buck.

About people calling for visa restrictions, these criminals form a small part of the Nigerian travelling quota, and most have or still benefit from the largesse of the Nigerian Government especially developing countries, examples , malaysia and Thailand, add singapore to that, most of the current benefits are mostly enjoyed by the political elite of those countries.

so, about visa rules, if my goverment to bend backwards for a reason, not much can be done about it.

Potomac MD USA looks like who was/ is who at the Nigerian political elite, try the real estate prices there and get back to us.

I have nothing against Africans, I visited Africa twice and met some good people down there.

Had 2 GFs both born in Africa but both have been living in some other countries for a very long while.

My ex Ugandan GF who lives in Canada for about 25 years now, warned me to be very careful when dealing with the locals while we were in Uganda visiting her family.

And she also said she would never marry an African. Go figure.

I actually found Ugandans rather friendly except for a few ass** but those you can meet in any other place just as easily.

All members of her extended and EXTENDED they are :) treated me very well. Nothing to complain about.

I definitely loved it.

Long time ago end of 70s early 80s while being a student I have met quite a few Africans also students at my Uni.

From Nigeria as well.

As a matter of fact I found most of them being arrogant (why is that I wonder ?!) and many, I knew it first hand, were involved in all kind of illegal activities. (don't ask not gonna list it here :D

Have to give them credit for being pretty good students though, they did study hard.

Nothing personal just an observation.

The lads from Lagos are at it again. We all know the 419 scam. "I have 20,000,000 in the bank. Send me a deposit and I'll transfer it into your account and we split it"!!!!! :)

I received a letter in my office yesterday from a very kind man from Zimbabwe. He is looking for an honest person to split US$42,000,000.00 with him and his younger sister. How Nice! 555 :D

This cannot be true, I'm sure it's some German, Italian or Canadian scammer, or try a notorious Norwegian con artist, ever heard of those :) ??? posing as an honest Zimbabwean citizen.

Or according to one silly post above if he is in fact Zimbabwean it's not his fault by any means, simply because:

"Zimababwe (!!! is there a country by such name??)was intentionally made destitite(I guess the poster means "des‧ti‧tute") by the west just to show that without them earning where they dont sow , they have the ability to make things go bad, very quickly."

I was in the Nana area one evening about a week ago, in that soi with the Foodland and the Amari hotel. I was slowly strolling just past the foodland going towards the main Suk street, right at all the stalls just off the front of foodland, when I saw a young white woman handing a large torn piece of paper with a lot of handwriting on it, handing it to two tall, large African guys looking concerned with hands propped on their hips and one rubbing his chin while asking her, "so this is all of your personal information, yes?", and she had these big open eyes and shook her head to reaffirm them that she had given them the information as best she could. She was kinda cute actually, like the kind you wouldn't expect around those parts. As I slowly strolled by it gave me the sense that some shady business was going on and I couldn't help think she was probably on the receiving end of the tactics, so I glanced back real hard at her and stared until she looked over and saw me. Her face and eyes changed when she saw me, like that "why are you looking at me" look. I hope she got the point that she should wake up.

Oh dear, that might not be such a good idea because the history of the English, French, Germans, Portuguese and some other European nationals in Africa isn't that good. You know, theft of land, rape, genocides, enslavement and stuff like that. If we were to follow your suggestion thailand might have to exclude many Europeans due to their wealth coming from past illegal and amoral acts. I think the Africans have only learnt from their previous European colonial masters.

hate to disappoint you but there was genocide, and rape in africa before westerners came to the continent. Egyptians and Ethiopian empires constantly commited these atrocities. zulu tribes as well. genocide and rape and slavery has been documented in Africa at least 4-5000 years ago. Stop blaming the west. The West learned it from Africa. The number one sellers of slaves to the Europena colonists were Africans themselves.

Always wondered how all those dark-skinned 7-foot gentlemen (alleged Africans) could afford to sit around Pratunam all day and do apparently nothing for months on end. :)

What about the light skinned people who always spend their time in Nana?

lmao!

.......... the scum of the earth originate in Africa, and they maybe right. All I know is not enough of them are caught and incarcerated.

Such rubbish! Africa was such a lovely place before the West interferred with her.

On the other hand, it's a commendable thing that the authorities have arrested the alleged conmen. I sincerely hope that justice is upheld.

Oh dear, and you teach ??

And the western influence destroyed Africa. They also looted their treasures ( stealing, scam ) in the name of colonisation.

Example: The Benin Ivory Mask "http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore/highlights/highlight_objects/aoa/i/ivory_mask.aspx"

A member of the colonia goverment in Nigeria wrote a book recently. I suggest you look for that book and read it. Then you can decide for yourself who to point accusing fingers at.

Well they are certainly doing their best to get their own back now

The busiest of all the slave traders were the Arabs and their areas of activity extended from the northernmost West African countries across to present day Kenya.

The Europeans, of whom the Portuguese were most prominent, rarely travelled far from the coast of West Africa and were supplied by Africans of the local ruling tribe who forayed inland.

Score sofar:

Try to pick a fight with me:

-- British: 2

Try to steal a bottle of whisky from our table in a club:

-- Nigerian: 1

Will be interesting to see how the game ends.

Ratio of British to Nigerians in Thailand is???????

Hey imagine if the answer was 2:1, but for your figures to be taken seriously surely this would need to be known

Brits to Lugardians(Nigerians) in thailand?

The number of Brits that die in Thailand in a year far outnumber the number of Nigerians living in Thailand.

It is a fallacy that you need to know anything regarding the ratio to take my numbers seriously.

The numbers are true and accurate. However they are not to be used to be applied to any population or bigger group of people.

The are merely anecdotal but true observations by one person from a very localised section of the nightlife.

Rubbish reply, the law of averages must apply, if there are 3000 Brits to 1 Nigerian are you suggesting the figures would show that on the whole Brits are more likely to cause a fight? A localised section of the nightlife? haha. To be fair if you spout this sort of garbage in bars when people have had a few I am surprised only 2 have had a pop at you.

talk sense, of course the ratio matters whenever anyone is discussing figures and trying to point out averages.

Put down the pint and read again.

I am clearly stating that the figures above are from a non-selective sampling and not of any use in applying it to a wide range of people. It is merely a funny anecdotal reference as to how one person has encountered other foreigners. 3 instances over several years isn't high in any regards.

ah maybe then I need to be drinking to understand your humour, but sorry to disappoint you, I am tea total.

So just to get this clear, your post was aimed at slating the Brits and attempting to point out that you are twice as likely to be the victim of crime against a Brit than you are against a Nigerian, is this correct? Forgive me if I am wrong but I see this as just an attack on Brits, a stereotype based on nationality. This is why it is important to work out ratios to see if your 2:1 figure was fair. But now you tell me it was a joke you have to forgive me for not seeing it as a joke, jokes normally are funny, maybe a smiley would have given me some clue. But it is clear you seem to like having a pop when not in full possession of any facts with your comment about putting down the pint, again probably based on the fact I would appear to be British and based on your stereotype that if I am British I must be sat in a bar somewhere.

Conversation over I think, smileys are your friend :)

I met a Liberian in a lift/elevator at a hotel in Bangkok.

He had a brief case and was dressed in slacks and a polo shirt.

He introduced himself and I asked where he was from.

I then remarked on the great George Weah, to which he responded with a smile or two.

Then he started asking me questions about business.

I tried to keep the conversation geared towards football, as I felt a scam was at its foundations.

His questions were about me and a possible business deal.

I got out the lift saying Weah was great and walked the opposite way to my room as he was watching. When the doors closed I went back the other way to my room.

It was not a joke, nor did I ever write it was a joke.

I would suggest that you 1) read what I actually wrote 2) loosen up a bit regarding your paranoia in defending your collection of nations from every [perceived] treat 3) have a pint but not too many - I wouldn't wanna meet you in a bad mood if this is your 'neutral' one. :)
