January 15, 201016 yr I am in possession of a Canadian check drawn on the Bank of Montreal. Tried to deposit in Bangkok Bank acct. and was advised it would take a month to clear and cost more than $30 Cad. Short of sending it back to Canada has anyone found an alternative method to cash a foreign check?
January 15, 201016 yr The delay for it to clear (all the way) and a fee of approximately 400 baht is standard. I have foreign checks deposited into a foreign bank account where they clear in about 24 hours if they were written in that country and 72 hours if they were written in a different country.
January 15, 201016 yr Bangkok Bank is the Thai correspondent bank for Bank of Montreal, it therefore follows that the BB time and cost to clear the cheque will be the fastest and cheapest.
January 15, 201016 yr The SCB charges me 200 baht per cheque, and 30 days to clear it. That was the main reason I moved my 22 year old account from the Bangkok bank, as they started to play silly buggers with ridiculous encashment charges.
January 15, 201016 yr I just deposited a personal check drawn on my account in the US into my account with the Bank of Bangkok. Cost 340 Baht. Time to clear 21 days. Been doing this for years.
January 15, 201016 yr I just deposited a personal check drawn on my account in the US into my account with the Bank of Bangkok. Cost 340 Baht. Time to clear 21 days. Been doing this for years. Same here, deposited checks many times with Bangkok Bank and nearly always 21 days and the charge is $10.00 so varies in Baht depending on the exchange rate.
