Hi we deal in Southern Ireland applications i believe this is what you are referring to ?

As for visas you only get up to a maximum of 90 days on entry as a Tourist, if you are referring to Northern Ireland you require a UK visa,.

Feel free to contact me via my website we have a Thai/UK office.

The OP is asking for advice, not silly jokes!

Greg, I've also deleted your 'ignore me' post for you.

Hoffer, have a look at Visa Services from the Department of Foreign Affairs.

For the Republic of Ireland it would be easier to bring her here if she was your wife.

I have heard a lot of reports of Tourist visas being refused here in Dublin.

Just my tuppence worth.

i think persons from myanmar are not allowed to marry foreigners, so marrying her would be illegal. but you could have a child together, that would work.

if you dont want to become a parent, your gf is not too old, then , maybe you find somebody in ireland you know, who could employ has as an au pair. could give her a 1 year visa.

As I understand it - you could marry her in Ireland - you need to give 3 months notice to the registrar - but she needs to be here for that - so the order of things would probably be that she comes here on a tourist visa - you both notify the registrar of your intention to get married - then she returns to Thailand and apply for a new tourist visa - she returns and marries you here on while on that second tourist visa and then returns to Thailand and applies for a spousal visa and finally returns on that.

The first visit might not be necesary as you might qualify for postal registration (see http://www.groireland.ie/getting_married.htm )

That is of course assuming you want to get married. If you don't then I think getting a visa might be more difficult - might a Burmese national qualify for refugee status ?

Although it is not illegal for Myanmar women to marry foreigners (no problem for myanmar men btw), the Myanmar gov't has tried to restrict it, and the Myanmar Embassy will not issue affidavits stating that the person is allowed to marry, as required by the Registrar in Thailand. Until last year, the Registrars would assist and allow an affidavit to be signed in front of them, however I understand that all Registrars were instructed to close this loophole.

The Myanmar restrictions are actually only a hindrance, and are not supported by Myanmar Law, which hasn't been updated since colonial times. The Law contains provisions for a buddhist to marry a non-buddhist, which provides plenty of room for Myanmar's to marry non-myanmar. Additionally there are customary rules that state that if an unmarried man and woman are seen alone together, by more than just a handful of people, that that couple can be deemed to be automatically married, i.e. to protect her honour.

One solution that has worked is to have 2 ceremony's, one at a church and one at a pagoda (wat), with lots of photos and witnesses present. Under Myanmar's Laws this will be recognised, and I know people that have successfully married this way.

Get your local T.D. on the job from the start when u apply for her visa to Ireland. Without him don't bother even filling out the paper work as it will set u back a few hundred yoyo's and take anywhere between 4-8 months for a negative outcome.

I don't think that she could get a visa from Thailand if she is Burmese, I think she will have to go back to Burma to apply for a visa to go to Ireland , Thats where the tricky part starts, She can get one year stamp and I D card from the Thai consul. also she will get a number for her to work in Thailand , all have to be Done yearly by her Employer. There are many Burmese people who are staying in Thailand which the Thai government are looking to repatriate. along with Cambodians.

Burmese citizens are serviced through the KL embassy ( http://www.ireland-embassy.com.my/index.asp?page=visa ) and might be able to avail of the srevices of the Bangkok consulate (for sight of original documents etc.) - failing that KL
