webfact
2 Malaysian women arrested for using fake credit cards Two Malaysian women have been arrested for allegedly using fake credit cards to buy expensive goods in Bangkok department stores. Chin Siew Ken, 39, and Wang Fai Ying 32, were arrested shortly after they bought a Sony Vaio notebook computer at the Sony Thai shop in the Siam Paragon Mall on Thursday. Alerted by the bank of the credit card, police rushed to the shopping mall and found the two Malaysians leaving the shop. Police found 19 fake credit cards and fake China and Hong Kong passports on them. Police have earlier received complaints from several banks that some foreigners have recently used fake credit cards to buy gods at major shopping malls, such as Kesorn Plaza and Central World. -- The Nation 2010-01-15 [newsfooter][/newsfooter]

AsiaCheese
What do you do with a god after you buy it? To quote Richard Dawkins on that one: most people don't believe in most of the gods in this world; I just go one god further Didn't know they copy those too... ronz28
I hope they are investigated to see which organization got them all those fake credit cards and passports. They may be pawns for a terrorist group to generate revenue by reselling the goods to support others in their dirty work. Too many organized scams out there. Bagwan
More the case that foreigners have no legal status in Thailand so its difficult for banks to claim back debts if you run them up? You could just leave the country and that would be it? Get a new passport and you are now new person? Of course foreigners have legal status else you could murder with impunity. No longer is it true that the first turn of the screw or the turbine pays all debts and fleeing, to the UK at least, will be the end of the matter. If a company owed money has incorporated status in the UK, action can be taken in the Civil Courts there. Getting the verdict and having a payment order made is one thing, getting any money is another.
Guest
thats the reason why farangs dont get credit card easly from thai banks Are Malaysian women farangs? I don't see the connection. More the case that foreigners have no legal status in Thailand so its difficult for banks to claim back debts if you run them up? You could just leave the country and that would be it? Get a new passport and you are now new person? lol. idiots. FAKE= stolen (skimmed) data put on a previously empty card. if you get a card issued at a bank, that's not fake by any means, even if you fail to repay. most of the time it's not even an offence. Sisaketmike
thats the reason why farangs dont get credit card easly from thai banks Okay buying "gods" isn't really easy. That's the reason why some foreigners don't get it.

bendejo
What do you do with a god after you buy it? Set up a temple and make a bundle on donations. Pretty dumb using a stolen card to buy a big-ticket item. Who said all Chinese are clever?
