Marine Safety Issues Discussed In Meeting

Featured Replies

On Friday Morning at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Ronagit, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya chaired a meeting to discuss recent boating accidents, some of which have claimed the lives of foreign tourists. Officials from Larn Island were also in attendance and were told that a new committee will be set up to analyze and upgrade safety measures for tourists and pleasure boats to ensure that accidents do not occur in the future. The Deputy Mayor would like to see clear signs in various languages which give tourists clear areas where they are permitted to swim. It will also state that if they decide to swim in other areas, such as boating channels, they could risk serious injury or event death. Further meetings on this important subject will take place over the coming weeks as Pattaya City Hall are determined to improve safety for tourists who travel to nearby islands and swim in the sea.

Maybe they should just drag in all the boaters, make them apply for a license and tell them to stay the hel_l out of the swimming and diving areas

It's the same problem as the highways here

There are just no resources policing the highways or the waterways

With no police and oversight, what we see happening is the end result
