Hi all,

Noticed this inch and a half wide vertical band the other day. Not there all the time - appears after the screen's been on for a few hours.

More visible when viewed at an angle rather than head-on.

Not graphics card/mainboard/driver related as it 's there when the pc itself is turned off.

The monitor's a Hp w1907, 3 years old in May ( I think).

Any ideas?

SL.

Edit. That's strange. Its moved to the right now. Never mind, you can still see it.

Not sure I see what you mean (from pic)but looks like part of an active desktop, this can not be if you can see it when monitor turn off.

Try not using an active desktop.

Even when unplugged? Unplugged not the same as turned off.

If you can see it within an application like Word or IE then nothing to do with active desktop, return it to where you purchased it, they usually put a dated tiny sticker on the device somewhere indicating when the warantee expires .....no receipt usually needed.

Whoops!

Like an idiot, I've just realized that because the fault is with the monitor, The band doesn't show up on my screenshot.

But as I said, its a vertical faded/lighter shade band between the two arrows.

Don't use active desktop Thairat and its visible on all dark backgrounds especially when the monitor is in sleep mode.

At the moment I don't have the time to take it back to the shop where I got it from so if its not something easily fixable I'll have to live with it.

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds silly, but make sure the cable is firmly attached between monitor and computer, bad or partial connections or possible electrical noise from an socket that isnt grounded (common) could possibly cause this.

The desktop you show IS an active desktop!
