THAI celebrates 45th anniversary

BANGKOK: -- Thailand's national flag carrier, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), today celebrated 45 years of flying by awarding certificates and souvenirs to its pilots and other employees.

The award ceremony, presided over by the chair of the THAI board, Mr. Wanchai Santhulthat, saw 28 pilots receiving the certificates and 809 employees receiving the souvenirs marking their 25 years of work with the company.

THAI will mark 1 May, the actual anniversary of the airline's foundation, with the launch of a new route to New York using new Airbus 340-500 aircraft.

Last year the company, which has had a continuous 40-year profit record, clocked up net profits of Bt10.07 billion.
