sharecropper
A friend of mine is coming over in a month's time and wishes to do a TEFL course while he is here either in Pattaya or Bangkok. Does anyone know: (1) how much they cost (2) How long they last (3) Employment prospects in Thailand after having done one 4) Can he get a work permit as a self-employed teacher or does he have to work through an agency once he has his TEFL (happy to take PMs on this point!) (5) Average salary of a TEFL-qualified English teacher in Bangkok or Pattaya? Many thanks, Sharecropper.

He thought he could earn in the region of 100,000 Baht pcm, but from what you say, that's way off beam. Will read pinned thread.
Scott
Some things that may affect his salary: 1. Does have a degree? 2. Is the degree in education? 3. Does he have a teacher's license from his home country? 4. Does he have experience in teaching? People with a degree in education can land jobs that higher in pay, but I personally don't know of any who have come close to the 100,000 Baht mark.
